Straps And Tie-Downs For Your Motorcycle. The Problem Is The S-T-R-E-C-H.

1Red-ShockStrap2Black-ShockStrapTrailing your motorcycle or other toys? You set your ratchet or cam buckle straps as tight as you can. You go on the road and when you stop for gas, you check your cargo. The straps are dangerously loose. Why do most strap manufacturers, on the back of their packaging, instruct their strap owners to pull over every 20 to 50 miles to check and retighten your straps? The explanation is in the comparison below.

ShockStraps use 3,800 pound polyester webbing instead of lower cost nylon used and sold by most companies. The company states that they provide superior shock absorption without coming loose. Available in an assortment of colors in 6′, 10′ and 19′ Lengths, black or red. Video demonstration at ShockStraps.  Order and questions at sales@shockstrap.com

Interesting info…will now look at what the straps are made of (if it’s known). Might also add I don’t use the hooks, but take the tail piece and hooks off, then use the strap as a loop…

I wouldn’t trust those orange Harbor Freight ones I see everyone using. They are cheap price wise, but would you trust your 800 lb. bike to those weak made in China crap?

STF, alway’s so negative. The people that use and buy those Chinese crap tie-downs should always
use them to tie-down the cheap Chinese motorcycles, ATV’s, UTV’s they own. When the tie-downs break nothing of any value is lost. So lets try and by a little more positive.

I bought a pair at the Vegas BikeFest in 2014. Guess what? These tie downs work excellent. I also have my PowerTye 2 1/2″ fuzzy tie downs, not the cheap HF orange ratchet and have used these more than a few times. Bike holds down good. No probs. Recommend them.

Slow down, guys, I’m taking notes here ☺ When using the “good” straps, is one supposed to remove the Chinese parts from their H-D and/or use one less strap?

I have always been amazed why anyone would use a $10 strap to tie down a $20,000 bike? ..Z

@ zipper, amen! (or a $39.95 Harbor Freight chock) To be fair, I have no idea what material straps I have, but they are very robust and I trust Teffi’s judgement to have supplied me with the same high quality straps as the quality of his Condor chock I got them with.
