Laconia is the world’s oldest motorcycle rally. As those who visited know, the epicenter of the rally is Laconia Weirs Beach, Lakeside Avenue and the boardwalk that skirts it. But many bikers come to ride throughout the state, crossing into Maine or Vermont. It’s what motorcycle touring expert Suzanne Boxberg and Monographer Horst Roesler did, sending me some nice landscape pictures of their trip on their way to Laconia (itinerary suggestions at “Discover New England”) The weather was typical New England, partly sunny to rain to mostly sunny all week long… A legal note: New Hampshire does not mandate wearing motorcycle helmets for riders over 18, which it has been claimed is a reason why some riders are attracted to events in the state.

Was Horst really here in Laconia? I never ran into him, which seems unusual regardless how spread out the rally is.
Hi Michael!
Belive it or not – even I doubt that I was there! Arrival June 10th 9 pm, parade start 11 am on the 11th, “Broken Spoke” and a short chat with Jay Allen (always great to meet) 12 pm, rain started while shopping at HD Laconia 13 pm and then we visited the EXCELENT, not only when rainy, American Police Motorcycle Museum (americanpolicemotorcyclemuseum.com), till 5.30, then buying rubber boots at Laconia Walmart for the rest of the tour (which paid off…). After another short stop on Mainstreet all packed up on Sunday morning, we hit the road again direction Mt. Washington. Not my idea of doing Laconia, but it wasn’t my trip either.
If Cyril posts also my picture on Mt. Washington (Promoted: Worst weather of the USA – and we got the “full packet” :), you can see that I was there “physically”, but after 3 days on and around, I still doubt the Mountain exists! 🙂
Exploring Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont in just 8 days was quite a challenge, but I guess I have images to prove, even some of myself 🙂
