The Midwest is still freezing. Backyard/garage/pro-builders have been grinding, welding & wrenching all winter. They can’t wait to see how their new creations are going to be received. And the Donnie Smith Bike Show, already in its 22nd edition, is one of the first they can attend to promote their custom sleds. As usual, there will be a vendor’s row with major brands showing their ware, some cash money to be made for the winners in the 42 classes competing in this mid-western bike show. 2 weeks to go to finish your bike on time for the weekend of March 28/29th at the St Paul River Center in St Paul, MN. Send me pics of the best new bikes (picture by Tom Zimberoff)

I have had to pleasure sit with Donnie and throw back some beverages all the while talking about the industry and admiring others wink wink) that hang around the industry. In my humble opinion, Donnie Smith has been and still remains one of the best custom builders in the world and does a lot of good for the industry.

Staring out in just a little shop off of Lyndale Ave. in Minneapolis he’s gone a long ways. He’s always been a very approchable person. One other thing about the show: it has one of the largest and best swapmeets in the midwest.
Donnie Smith …. it is real simple …. Donnie is just plain Good People!
Over & Out,
Jeff
Donnie Smith is a good man, well respected in these parts, approachable and does a lot for the motorcycling community here in the Twin Cities. Not only is this one of the Midwest’s largest shows but it’s also where you can hob knob with some of the best in the business. Pearson Customs, Kevin Baas (TEACH), Sprockets Custom Paint and Noelski, just to name a few. There are some sick rides and some sick work that are done not only custom one off bikes, parts, but paint as well!
For us Minnesotan’s, the Donnie Smith show is a sure sign of Spring and time to break out the bikes.
Stop by the Bottoms Up Bike Fest booth at this year’s Donnie Smith show and say hi!

Donnie is defanatly one of the finest people I have ever known, He is always willing to talk to you and help you. And with all the years of expearence he is a walking encylopedia . And if that were not enough last year he bounced right back from a double knee replacement!. More than proud to have him as one of my Hamster brothers. And the bike show is top notch. Donnie and Neil do a fantastic job. A show worth attending!
Donnie is one of the very best people I have ever met. He is still a farm boy at heart. Talk to him and listen, his insite comes from years of experience. He is the real deal. This show grows every year, if you can swing it, you shouldn’t miss it!
I have been fortunate enough to call Donnie Smith a freind for many years. Truely one of the GREAT guys I have met in the industry. Riding with Donnie in the late 80s – early 90s before I moved to FL was the beginning of my custom motorcycle addiction! He is always there with advise or help on any project when asked and just a blast to be with. I have not made it back to Minn for the show for several years but it is a great show. Sorry I missed you in Daytona this year Donnie, it wasn’t the same without you.
Thanx
Dougie
Yup, Donnie is the real deal, what a great and talented guy.
