The 69th Sturgis Bike Rally is almost here. The legendary Buffalo Chip is going to turn again into a small city where you can sleep (500 acres of campground) where you can eat ( Stage West Café, Sturgis Rider Café, Domino’s Pizza, Porky’s, The Buffalo Grill, Sandwich Shop, Burger Express, The Greek, Chubby Churros), listen to music (Aerosmith, Chuck Berry, Toby Keith, George Thorogood), visit major vendors (Victory Motorcycles, Indian Motorcycles, Sucker Punch Sally’s), etc. For more info and reservations, go to Buffalo Chip.

Where you can SLEEP? Have you ever tried to sleep with 500 acres of snoring bikers in the tents 3 foot away?

In 15 years of going to Sturgis, I can’t believe I’ve not been to the Chip. Got lots of events to attend there this year so I can’t wait to finally see the madness and mayhem I hear that is the infamous Buffalo Chip.

I stayed at Glencoe years ago — and well, that’s all I needed to see to get a taste of campgrounds in Sturgis.

Each time I go to Sturgis I stay at the Trout Haven campgrounds. Very quiet and pretty. They have a restaurant, trailer hookups, shower facilities, cabins, etc. You can even catch your own fish for dinner (they’ll cook it up) at the little lake that’s there. Plus it’s not smack in the middle of Sturgis. It’s between Mt. Rushmore and Sturgis city. You have soooo many neat roads to ride through besides the chaos of the city. Close to Deadwood, caves, Custer Park – it’s actually in a good location. $$ is not too bad, either 🙂

Woody & Lon and the guys do a great job at the CHIP, its basically an event and rally all on its own……..its not for evrybody but its still the best venue to see top acts for week and all within walking distance of your tent!
