IronWorks Magazine just hired industry publishing veteran, and long-time Harley-Davidson enthusiast Stephen Berner as its new Editor-in-Chief. Based in Connecticut he will lead the editorial and content development for the magazine. He has worked for several years with American Iron Magazine where he managed events, licensing, web development, and wrote/photographed feature and technical stories. Mr. Berner has also been a contributor to Hot Bike Magazine and is an accomplished leather artist (check his riding jacket). He is a frequent visitor to my Blog where you may have noticed his comments below my articles under the name of “steveb”.
Stephen says “I’m psyched to be back in the game, working with Publisher, Wade Ramsey, and the IronWorks crew. I’ve been reading IronWorks since 1990 and it has always been a great title. It’s an honor and a treat to be able to lead the charge and further develop the IronWorks name to its full potential by bringing even more great machines and stories to our loyal fans. My goal is to uncork the IronWorks’ engine, spool it up, and let it breathe. It’ll be great, fun, and entertaining – really a celebration of what we all love most about the machines.”
Leaving IronWorks will be Editor, “Daingerous” Dain Gingerelli, who has successfully lead the Editorial charge since founder, Dennis Stemp, passed away several years ago. Mr. Gingerelli, who has authored numerous hot rod books, intends to concentrate much of his time on book publishing and will remain a contributor. IronWorks Magazine.
I know how tough the magazine business is right now because my brother works for one that has been in business since 1936. The internet, declining ad sales and the overall economy is making it tough for all of them. It sure is hard to read the laptop when you are on the throne.
DK. To read a magazine on the throne is very disgusting, very unhealthy, a redneck habit. So, it’s good to know that you could not go there with your laptop to write your comment. Folllowing your statement, the only argument that print magazines have to keep readers is to say in an ad campaign “We are the only one that can read on the throne. Dump your laptop”. You are very dumb.and hope that your brother working in a magazine is brighter than you.

Steve is a great guy and was missed in the industry. I hope Dain does stay on as a regular and wish him the best on his new path.
I’ll sure miss Dain; I always thought he led the magazine in the same direction that Dennis would have wanted. Personally, I’d hate to see Ironworks “spooled up” into another Hot Bike or Easyrider wannabe, but I guess I’m more concerned about a good read than producing a profitable marketing vector. Best of luck, Dain.
I hope they get back to the roots. Iron Works has become one big advertisement for Klock Werks!

It has always been a pleasure working with Dain and I have always found him to be a straight up guy. I’ll never forget the test ride we did, old Indian vs new Indian. My old 1948 Kiwi powered Indian made it to Vegas. Had to leave the new Indian on the side of the road in 115 deg heat in BF Egypt. Good times mate. Let’s squeeze in some more fun rides. How about Death Valley.

Re: Dave’s Very Black Bagger………..I love the Article but there are no references to where some of the parts were obtained. Like the windshied…..the size of the tire that looks so great with the Corbin front fender….. if no one else is interested i am…..and someone could email the answers if possible.
