Motorcycle Cannonball Update. Part 10. They Arrived.

After having to go through 55 traffic lights while riding through Los Angeles, the first “Cannonballers” crossed the finish line on the Santa Monica Pier, CA at 1 pm Pacific Time this Sunday September 26, 2010. Full report coming soon…(picture Mike Tomas)

    Howdy folks, There are 3 class winners….1,2,and 3. Class 1(single cylinder/single speed) winner- Katryn Boehner, class 2(multi cyliders-single speed) – Bradford Wilmarth, class 3(multi cylinders, multi speed)- Rick McMaken. These are unofficial standings. Hopes this helps. A joy to follow them across the country. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!

    What a great day at the Santa Monica Pier yesterday! Seeing all the pre 16 bikes lined up, still warm from the morning ride to the pier was quite an incredible picture. Men and machines were on display with congrats flying around everywhere. Amazing stories of overnight engine builds and major repairs on the go are already starting to emerge and likely many interesting stoiries will start to surface in the next weeks and months. The event was Epic! A quick chat with Carl Olsen let us know that Matt is fine after his crash that broke his arm in two places. His Sears will also be OK as well, after some motorcycle surgery. Truly a “man vs machine” experience! Congrats to all the riders!

    Riding along with the Cannonballers and hanging with many of them, their experiences were certainly amazing. It was a real challenge for both man (and women) and machine. Class 3 had quite a few with perfect scores and the tie breaker went down to the oldest rider in that class. This was no easy feat. Ride all day and do service/repair//overhaul at night. I hope a TV documentary will be done. All the riders are winners!!!

    Ron Blissit finished 16th and was the oldest rider at 71 years young. He also rebuilt the 1914Indian after it was involved in a bad crash in the early stages
