Is it a scoop? Stage 15 of the Cannonball from Laughlin, NV to Victorville, CA. Mike Tomas from Kiwi Indian joined the Run as an observer riding alongside the participants on his own built board tracker.
A “cannonballer” (David Fusiak) is stopped with his 1915 Harley broken down. Mike is not at all into Harleys (his thing is Indians from the 20’s to 50’s) and much less in 1910’s Harleys. What do you do? Of course you stop and try to help. Blacktop is 110-degree, the bike is very hot/ugly/oily and Mike crawls under it to change a magneto, taking the timing gears out and retiming while David Fusiak is on the phone getting the necessary instructions. There is no other image of Mike working on a Harley…only on Indians. So, it was image(s) of the (past) week.
Another candid camera moment for sure, but hey what would any motorcyclist do I couldn’t ride past without stopping to see if I could help no matter what bike they were on.
What a trip, not easy, only for certains bikers that have knwolege and (balls).
Mike is one of Nature’s gentlemen and would be one of the last guy’s on earth to pass a broken down bike of any persuasion. Way to go Kiwi!
way to go keeeee weeeee!
Smile… You’re on Candid Camera! Good on ya, Mate.
Mike is one of those feloows that will always stop and lend anyone a helping hand. I’m proud to call him my friend. Although I’m going to have to ask him when he’s going to start slipping some Harleys into the shop? Take care Mike, and I look forward to talking and laughing about this the next time we get together.
Well what to say? Mike will go out of his way to help someone else!!! And for me he did that on a grand scale this last Sturgis. THANKS Mike you are a real GENTLEMAN!!!!!! Respect…
Great shot..
I must say young man that that’s quite a good shot of your backside LOL!!!!
He went way out of his way for us two years ago at BUB. Thanks Mike!
And he maintains proper posture while performing the repair! peace
If you didn’t know him, now you do …… respect!
Mike is never to busy to lend a hand and is an inspiration to us

Hey Mike, Remember me from the end of the Legends Ride this year at Sturgis? You are a class act. My respects!! Wiz, Freebird Custom Motorcycles
David was on the phone with the Harley factory discussing the warranty aspects and relaying instructions of what to do. Harley said the warranty had just ran out the day before.
Outside temp was 110 deg, not sure what the black top temp was let alone the hot magneto that sits behind the rear cylinder. At least she fired back up and made it to Santa Monica. Good times.
If you’ve made only one ride with Kiwi this is a familiar sight. After all, he certainly wouldn’t need to repair an Indian! LOL. Kudos Kiwi…always the wrench in need!
Mike you are a good man…A friend in need is a friend in deed.
You can fix a Harley but can’t fix your kitchen sink.
Phillip
I’m not surprised at all. Being married to a Kiwi, the TRUE Gentlemen are very few and far between, Mike is the other one. I am proud to be in his company (litteral) and his friend …Right Boss!! Nice Bum shot. Too.
Good on you Mike. 🙂
Just a “Biker” do’in his part…
Known Mike and his family for afew years now. This just bloody typical of him . Even the bike being a harley does not stop his typical kiwi nature .Spent time with him filming Bert Munroes movie , same thing helping any any way he could . Thanks Mike for the help in getting our rice burner powered race car up and running .Cliff and Alexander. Youve got tickets for the oval nationals at Perris my friend ,later mate
A Harley what is the world coming to.I knew you could and would do it some day good on ya mate..
LOL, I just hope Mike washed his hands before he touched one of his Indians after touching the Harley. Wouldn’t want cross contamination. WTG Mike
