Bonhams is very proud to make the uncommon announcement that a complete 1894/95 Hildebrand & Wolfmüller has been consigned and will be offered at the firm’s first annual Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction in January. Hildebrand & Wolfmüller is World’s First Production Motorcycle and the first 2-wheeler to which the name “motorcycle” (motorrad in German) was ever applied.
The one to be auctioned comes from a private American collection where it has resided for approximately half a century. It has been been lightly restored some decades ago and is wonderfully patinated. Another 1804 Hildebrand & Wolfmüller offered by Bonhams earlier this year in Britain sold for £86,200 ($137,000).The model being offered for Las Vegas next January is substantially superior and carries a conservative estimate of $150,000. Bonhams Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction with 200 other vehicles will take place Thursday, January 6th, 2011 at The Imperial Palace Hotel and CasinoTo contact a Bonhams representative, call 415-391-4000 (picture courtesy Bonhams)
