Who said that a cylindric shaped oil tank must be installed horizontally? Vertically, it will add a very nice visual touch to your custom. But, please measure first especially if you want to install it under your seat and use an electric starter.
This one is spun from .125″ thick aluminum and is 9″ tall and 5.375″ wide (included ribs.) Oil tank is fully TIG welded and pressure tested to 20 psi. Each of them is made to order, an advantage if you need slightly different measurements to fit your application.
Comes in a standard brushed finish with 2 options for the filler neck, a push-in style or screw cap. (If you’re running it on a British bike, you will need to restrict the return line.) $405.00 (shipping continental US included) 7 Metal West.
Quite expensive! WTF?
WTF indeed. How dare a company charge a lot for a custom made to order part that would sell in very small quantities even at half the price. How dare they not just give them away as a public service 😉
When you think about making it yourself, it’d cost a lot more considering the learning curve it’d take just for learning to spin the metal, lathing the bungs, and welding it all up. I don’t think it’s expensibve for what it is. Most off the shelf plane jane welded from sheet metal ones are $200 and up.
Anyone looked at the cost for HD branded parts? Those are stock parts and they are expensive. People need to realize that custom parts cost more because less are made and the place selling them are not paying people in 3rd world countries, they are paying people here to make them.
Had enough, Jason! hehe!
Custom and speed costs………how cool or fast do you what to go?
Hey, everyone needs to make a buck. Expensive is a relative term…how long do you think it takes to build one of those tanks? They are NOT getting rich off these units in my opinion.
NICE LOOKING PART……….GOOD LUCK WITH IT.
This tank is fantastic. works and looks killer.
Dan of 7 metalwest.com was good enough to donate one of these beauties to our charity bike build and everyone flipped over it,
Thanks again Dan.
