Don’t Call Or Text While Driving.

Sometimes only pictures can get our attention. Her last call was from a new cell phone… The Honda crotch rocket rider was traveling at approximately 85 mph. The VW driver was talking on a cell phone when she pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the motorcycle. The riders reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place. Stop talking on Cell phones and Texting while driving. The life you save may be your own, or mine…

Well I hate to say it but also the MC rider should probably not have been doing 85 mph either.

While I agree with your lecture/message, a little actual detective work on your part might be advisable. What next? Microsoft offering free computers if you forward an email? Send some money to a Nigerian Prince and GASP he’s a scammer?

Those photos have been around since before cell phones were even prevalent in Europe and I’ve never seen them attached to any kind of anti-cell phone message until now.

    In fact, Snopes reports:

“None of the news accounts we found mentioned the driver of the struck vehicle’s having been talking on a cell phone at the time of the collision …”

Cellular phone use is advertised by PD as the reason of this accident when exhibiting this car.

Not sure why it has to be a “crotch rocket” implies a negative connotation. We are all riders. Some of us even own both cruisers and sportbikes.

Old news or not it still happens. Please wait to text, it’s never as important as a life! If you have to use your cell put it on speaker or use the ear piece that all cell phones come with.

    Cellphone and texting laws

    May 2011

Talking on a hand-held cellphone while driving is banned in 9 states (California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Utah, and Washington) and the District of Columbia. Utah has named the offense careless driving. Under the Utah law, no one commits an offense when speaking on a cellphone unless they are also committing some other moving violation other than speeding.

The use of all cellphones by novice drivers is restricted in 30 states and the District of Columbia and the use of all cellphones while driving a school bus is prohibited in 19 states and the District of Columbia.

Text messaging is banned for all drivers in 32 states and the District of Columbia. In addition, novice drivers are banned from texting in 8 states (Alabama, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and West Virginia) and school bus drivers are banned from text messaging in 3 states (Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas).

Many localities have enacted their own bans on cellphones or text messaging. In some but not all states, local jurisdictions need specific statutory authority to do so.

The table and maps below show the states that have cellphone laws, whether they specifically ban text messaging, and whether they are enforced as primary or secondary laws. Under secondary laws, an officer must have some other reason to stop a vehicle before citing a driver for using a cellphone. Laws without this restriction are called primary.

This scares the hell out of me. Whether this particular picture is actually attributed to an accident that involved a cell phone or not is kind of moot. These accidents happen all the time and just add yet another danger to increasingly dangerous roads. People need to pull their heads out of their butts and pay attention when they drive.

I have seen cagers read the morning paper, apply their make up, and eat their breakfast,, while doing 80 on the Interstate. Adding a text message to the morning agenda, has proved deadly on the morning commute. Ride Safe Brothers.

I’ve read about Nascar driver doing 128mph in a 45 speed limit. Nice example Kyle Busch has set for all the kiddie race fans.

Thanks ED for posting that. I was going to anyway.

Those pics are pretty old and the info posted was a little in accurate. I remember when these first came out.

There is no such thing as a vehicle accident.

“Human factors in vehicle collisions include all factors related to drivers and other road users that may contribute to a collision. Examples include driver behavior, visual and auditory acuity, decision-making ability, and reaction speed.

controlling a car including a good awareness of the car’s size and capabilities
reading and reacting to road conditions, weather, road signs and the environment
alertness, reading and anticipating the behaviour of other drivers.”
    (en.wikipedia)

There where approximately 30,000 vehicular deaths in the US in 2010.

    1) Individual rights should always be liberally given as long as that individual is responsible enough to keep them, and not trample on other individuals rights.

    2) People should loose their rights when they are proven irresponsible, and careless.

    3) I’m a former State trooper, and I’ve been in Afghanistan for over a year now. I have seen far more carnage from vehicle accidents than firearms. At least for now in some states I have a right to defend my family, and home from criminals with a firearm. How do you have the chance to defend yourself against a 4,000lbs+/- vehicular missile? Unless you drive a semi-tractor or equivalent you only have defensive driving. So why are people so focused on gun control, but nobody really wants to limit idiots from driving?
The answer is: because everyone wants to drive.

We really need to focus on vehicle control. Force irresponsible people to take public transportation. Let those that are able to be responsible with their rights keep them. Make it harder for those that have lost their freedoms to gain them back.

I’m developing a new electronic device that jams and disables a cell phones within a 300 yard radius when activated……To protect myself when approaching an intercection…..Its called an EMP ….just like in the matrix……but it also destroys them.

again, why was the bike going 85? Yes texting & driving or talking on a cell while driving is bad news, however, so is driving to fast for conditions. Unless they moved this jumbled mass, it looks like there are alot of people around, meaning this wasn’t some country highway where the wreck happened.

So there is a reasonable chance the bike was driving way to fast for where he was. & again, don’t know where this was, but there is no raod in the states where the speed limit is 85.

Doesn’t matter if its old, new, or inaccurate, if it was his fault for speeding or the drivers for being on the cell phone talking or texting any one who rides can end up just like this 20mph 40 mph 80mph this was posted to open everyones eyes and not think that anyone is invincible and make all of us who ride aware that “shit happens”, there fault your fault doesn’t matter, drive defensively, to Luis this wasn’t posted to point out crotch rockets, or any other make of bike, to Gas Man just because there old, and this is old news to you, doesn’t mean that this kind of incident will not happen again, and last but not least to Ed Jungblood do you think it really matters if this was posted before cell phones were prevalent as you stated, or even if it was cell phone related or what ever other stupid shit you wrote about, you sound like one of those invincible kind of guys, and most of the time it’s people like you who end up in a body bag or being scraped up from the pavement, the fact still remains that IT DID HAPPEN if it was cell phone related or not doesn’t matter, shit like this happens everyday their fault, your fault, old news, new news, the point is that it did happen and most of the time it happens to those who loose the respect and fear of what there riding. so to everyone who can appreciate the message I commend you, and to those of you who feel like it couldn’t happen to you or you want to get all technical about the reasons and why it happened just follow the bright light when your turn comes around.
