Kenny Price, the boss of Samson Motorcycle Products, claims that his new two into one exhaust system featured here is the most powerful ever made. How does it work? The power is generated through a series of chambers, which Samson refers to as the “Power Chamber”, which helps condense and intensify exhaust flow, resulting in extremely high horsepower and torque. Independent Dyno testing would have shown that by just changing out the stock pipes with this new Powerflow III two-into-one system, riders may experience up to a 20% increase in both horsepower as well as torque. It would mean turning a stock exhaust Harley-Davidson into a high performance bike by simply changing out the pipes. Samson offers over.

Samson is a reputable company so I will give them the benefit of the doubt, but show us the HP and torque curves. No mention of requiring a high flow air cleaner or engine remap.

That is one good looking pipe! Finally someone designs a pipe that exits before the end of the bags. This system may not even bother those folks that think all baggers need duals to look balanced because you can’t really see it from the back. Way to go Kenny!
These claims seem very unlikely….
That’s a massive HP gain compared to other exhausts. I doubt the addition of a HF cleaner and remap will yield a 20% gain. But then again, what do I know… my bike still has one of those fuel leaks called a carburetor.
Let’s say 20%x100hp=20hp. From an exhaust system with no other changes? At least no other changes that are noted. 20hp? Really? Must use the same kind of technology as the guy that has the special magnets that give you a gazllion miles per gallon when you stick them on your tank.
Wait! If I stick the magnets on the exhaust will I get 20% more hp and better gas mileage? Feel free to send donations if you like my idea.
You CAN get huge HP gains on an exhaust system refit. The problem is that to get high HP it usually screws up a balanced torque curve. You may have high HP at high RPMs and have all the torque of a hamster wheel at the low and mid range. Like I said, show us the curves (independent tests might be useful).
This piece is a bit misleading/confusing. In the text is says “riders may experience up to a 20% increase in in both horsepower as well as torque”. The kew here are the words “up to”, which may be an accurate description. But “up to” are actually marketing “weasel words” that mean very little. Now let’s not overlook “may” in the text also. Boiled down to its essence the wording in the text means that you “may” get some horsepower and torque gain, and that it “could be up to 20%”. But it “could” also be 3% or 9% or whatever. Now with the greatest respect Cyril may have added to the confusion with his header that the “New Powerflow III 2 Into 1 Exhaust System Samson Promises 20% Horsepower Increase”, which is not what the text actually says. Now I have used several Samson exhausts over the past few years on a number of bikes and they have performed very well so this is not a critique of Kenny’s product in any way. And there is no doubt in my mind that the chambers designed into this system may well produce a considerable gain in horsepower and torque as these days we have more understanding of the technical aspects of exhaust flow and factors of it that affect power. Regarding air filter and remapping, I agree with Toby that there was no mention of changing these also, however, it is a given and I would have thought widely understood that given the internal combustion engine is essentially an air pump, changing the filter should be a given. Finally, while the stock ECM can adjust to a pipe change or air filter element change, it cannot cope with both without a remap
I am a little skeptical about those claims.
Samson’s 20% claim seems a little unrealistic.
Sounds like “Doc R.” has given this some thought and has probably nailed the essence of the HP and Torque claims. They are likely a “marketing” ploy. Please show us the dyno results if you want us to believe these 20% numbers.
Great looking exhaust should be a huge seller.
It says up to which means in a perfect world with all conditons right. It does not say you will get a 20% gain. Advertising, marketing, promotional writing, call it what you want. By the way, if you look at a BUB race pipes, the shape, size, etc. looks kind of like this Samson pipe. .
I have never seen a dyno print out a chart with an ” up to curve”…………………..

Regardless of the “up to” claim this is a good looking exhaust. I had a thunderheader on my ’94 Rd King in ’95 and got a lot of weird comments in regards to the single exhaust. I never gave the single exhaust on a bagger a second thought. I think all that pretty duals under both bags is a waste of time. Good show Kenny.
Average harley makes about 60-70 hp, thats about 12-14 hp with this system. Slip-ons can generate about 5-10 hp So this isn’t really that far off.
I can find nothing on the Samson website about these pipes…not even under the “news” drop down menu….???
sure wish I could find some short 2-1 pipes for my 91 bagger….Thunderheader used to..so did Samson..I once had a set from Samson….they kept cracking..rubber mounts are tough on pipes…
