I quit going in 1993 because of the way police treated people, never again.

Don’t forget about the Leesburg (FL) Bikefest this weekend. Small town. Friendly folks. Bike friendly. Lots of music on the street. Rat’s Hole Bike Show. It’s supposed to be some killer riding weather to boot.

    Best,

    Later Jay

Went last year for the first time in years and won’t be back. Nothing more pathetic than to see the street lined with people waiting for something to happen that never does.

nothing but leather products and jewelery , what happened to the good old days when Laughlin was about bikes and seeing new and inovated products.

Yep this was a great event up till about the early to mid 90s.

Many put the blame on the “club” incidences for ruining this event.

Well, I’ve got news for all the late-comers to the party. This event was ruined by the town of Laughlin long before all of that business. Once the town figured out they could capitalize, rates for everything starting skyrocketing more than the year before.

Fast forward, now add the mega law enforcement presence, they’ll give you a ticket if you fart in public during this event.

My pops, who is a retired LA County Sheriff Commander went two years ago. He along with a group of about 15 bikes (only about 4 were with him) got pulled over by some LEOs all at the same time.

My dad approached one of them and asked why tjey were being stopped, the cop said, “for speeding.” My dad replied, “all of us, how do you plan to prove that?”, and proceeded to pull his retired badge. He then asked to speak to the watch commander on duty….the cops immediately waved everyone on without further incident?

Makes us wonder how many have been f-d by situations like that, and just paid the tickets. It’s proof positive that the town sees it as an opportunity to capitalize, and generate revenue.

    FK Laughlin!
