With the help of Local Motors, a crowd-powered automotive design, manufacturing and technology group, the Del Prado brothers (Justin and Jarrod) – the partners of Arizona-based DP Custom Cycless – challenged participants to submit motorcycle concepts based on the 2000-2003 Harley Davidson Sportster.
After an intense design review of more than 200 submissions, the winning concept, the DP Racer by Andre Costa of Portugal, was hand-selected by the founders of DP Custom Cycles (see video at end of article.) Andre’s design was selected because of its overall “beautiful design, clean, classic lines, and the truly amazing air intake that the Del Prado brothers really wish they would have thought of. DP Cycles will now bring this bike to life, with completion date stated for 3rd week of July.
First place, and a $2,000 cash prize, will be awarded to Andre Costa (aka Lude) from Portugal, for his winning design, the DP Racer. Second and third place prizes of $1,350 and $950, respectively, will be awarded to Oberdan Bezz (aka OBIBOI) of Italy for his stock car-inspired Talladega concept, and to Marc Senger (aka sixten), from the United States, for his 1960s NASA-themed concept, the DP Customs Lander. Fourth through tenth place finalists will each receive a $100 cash prize.

Anyone notice not one of these concepts has a suspension?
Skeptical. So ???
Some very cool designs. My preferred is 10th place!
The Ac cover of winner is a great, great idea.
@Skeptical- all the designs are supposed to be hard tails. The suspension is limited to the seat and fork.
ALL REALLY NICE BIKES..CONGRATS TO ALL OF THE WINNERS
What beautiful bikes! A lot of talent there.
The judges must have had a very hard time making their choices.
Very kewl.
Like them all.
All are nice builds. Would love to ride em all! peace
Very nice designs! Even though the concepts came from different countries most of the bikes have 2into1 exhausts of similar design….hmmmm wonder if any exhaust manufacturers are watching?
You guys do realize these are all computer generated drawings, right?
Allf ormulaic too: all have 2 into 1 header, all are rigid frames I mean a little bit of paint here, a few added on doo-dads and presto, innovation and talent? Bland, predictable and BORING!
Bland, predictable and BORING? Are you and I looking at the same images Ernando? Within the parameters of the competition, the designers have displayed some very sweet and cool ideas in my opinion. Congrats to these 10, you are all winners to my mind.
Agree with A-1, Oustanding, all the way around
Nice! Love ’em all!
I like all of them. Thanks Cyril and DP
All nice bikes, but “concept”? Concept vehicles are supposed to be new and innovative. Nothing here is new or innovative. Wrong bikes for this particular contest.
Toby. Concept means not produced. So, they are all concepts until built.
After having built many Sportys (iron head) in the 70s, it’s nice to see all the renewed interest in the past few years. These are all nice custom bikes. As to all the unusable “concept pieces of motorcycle artwork” interesting, but kinda like elephants, Fun to look at but I would want to own one.
Nice scooters, but where are the “10 design concepts”….???
As far as “concepts” go, they all seem to look about the same (to me anyway).
