Harley-Davidson New Retro-Styled Helmets

HDHelmet1HDHelmet2HDHelmet3Of course, it was expected that Harley-Davidson would release its own line of the now extremely popular retro-styled helmet.

They feature Double D-ring fastening system and a premium soft inner-liner completed with microbial treatment and faux leather accents.

Candy paint designs were inspired by Harley own flake paint jobs reminiscent of those popular in the 60′s and 70′s. You can choose between Candy Custom Red Flake, Hard Candy Custom Black & Gold Flake Scallop or Black Label #1 Retro Satin Black. Looks like the same designs will be offered soon for full-face helmets. At most Harley-Davidson Dealers.

I dunno… they look like they might trap a lot of head-heat.
    Anyone worn one yet?
Do they have any goggles to with that?
How about the peripheral vision thing, vs. a 1/2 or 3/4 shell?

How much is that helmet in the window?

Harley has released a “retro” helmet similar to those re-released by Bell (and others) a few years ago. That is usually my signal that a fad has passed. Thanks for the warning HD, now I know my helmet is passe to the hipsters.

I don’t know when “Root Beer” became a popular color… but you could probably get a good deal on any “Root Beer” paint schemes lingering in dealer showrooms, as long as you didn’t tell anyone how much you paid to take it off their hands.
I think the 2014 models will be released next week. Now’s a good time to buy something for cash.

Wonder why there’s no more “solid” colors on motor vehicles sold in the USA?
“Insurance company mandates for safety reflection provided by the metal-flake particulates”, is what Progressive Flo’ told me.

Why don’t they ask us whether we really want something as that retro as that helmet, before they commit to something. Are we two different worlds here? Are they manufacturing for us or the shelf.

My experience with modern Harley’s? It’s all about modular construction. There’s no more repair. It’s only replace. That’s why a 5-yr. extended warranty makes sense. You don’t know anything about the wires and tubes today, that make-up what used to be known as a carburetor… so stay away from it!
In 5-yrs. you won’t even be able to change your own oil. :)

Chris, exactly. The Biltwell Gringo full face is the new thing.

I really don’t care about a fashionable helmet and who makes it. They all fit different anyway, so to me more choice is better for the right helmet to buy. As far as flakes and flicks or whatever is in style… who cares. I only want a helmet that fits well and does its job that I paid for.
