Darker Than Dark. The New Ducati Diavel Dark.

DarkDiavel2 years in a row, the Ducati Diavel was voted World’s Best Cruiser by Cycle World. Raw performance, head-turning style, and versatility within the cruiser category. The Diavel Dark ($18,000) gets the same Testastretta 11° Ducati V-Twin (producing 162 hp and 94 lb-ft of torque) housed in a chassis that nicely splits the difference between laid-back and poised-for-action. But now in a total black version with a massive rear Pirelli Diablo Rosso tire that means serious business between traffic lights or on the highway.

Absolutely remarkable rideable work of art!

I ride a Harley, but I’d definitely like to have one of those too.

Im sure this is a thrilling bike to ride, and I’m not knocking anyone who would want, I just wouldn’t want something that god awful ugly

I bet it would smoke a VRod any day… Love it!

Kinda starting to look like those bikes from Stallone’s old Judge Dredd movie, not sure whether I like it or not……

If that’s a cruiser an Electra Glide Ultra Classic is a crotch rocket.

Italian sex. 162HP off the rack – not too shabby. Black is the new Black.

I’ll be glad to see the “blacked out” trend die away. This is a pretty good looking bike, that looks like a kid ruined it with a can of Krylon.

    I can’t believe I agree with Rodent!

    Beautiful bike.

I’m on the fence on this one…I like it but I don’t.

On the plus side, it does offer impressive power @ 162hp. and I’m sure that being made by Ducati that it handles remarkably.

On the down side, I have to agree with 58_pan and Dave Blevins…enough said.

Don’t like the style, but I know from previous Duc’s it would take your breath away…

The Diavel is ugly and the exhaust is asthmatic sounding combined with a coffee can full of nuts and bolts noises that eminate from the motor.Strange how the Vrod, this thing and the second gen V-max is nowhere near as good as the original Vmax designed and built in 1985.The Diavel tries to be a Vmax with a Harley motor and becomes neither fish nor Hog nor fowl.I great bike if you want people to hear the harsh rattly motor sounds before they hear the commuter bike exhaust sound.I first though the Diavel would look better in the flesh than in images:It doesn’t and it even looks cheap and nasty. The 650cc Hyosung cruiser has way better finish and details.

Terrence you got part of the Story, ut the rest you are lost. It goes like this, V-Max the original had less range then the Sporty with the stock tank. It went down two 1/4 mile straights and then it needed gas. It got about 20 miles to a gallon when you drove it like you stole it. Bike was also Built for Midgets and Jockey’s. Here comes the new V+Max and it is a better ike then the old V-Max, but no range and also built for Midgets. Here comes the V-Rod and it was made with a great Motor and great intentions, biy no range and also for a Rider of 5’9″ or smaller. Now here comes the Ducati, looks great and I hear it is an awesome Bike and it has some range and can go for a 120 mile ride, BUT it still is made for Midgets. A CRUISER can Cruise with real Riders and Riders that weigh 350 lbs.and that are 6′ +.
Now, no matter How good these Bikes are, ARE THEY A CRUISER?

I love Ducs, so I never thought I’d ever say this but……that is an ugly Ducati.

The majority of bikes offered by manufacturers are for midgets.
I guess their design and production teams dont know their not in the 50’s any longer. Blows my mind. And you still get 6′ + dudes buying them. Go figure.

izadore007,You have got a few things wrong.I’m well over six foot and are perfectly comfortable on a Vmax and have done real miles on a few of them.Vmaxes go so fast you need to stop every 100 miles or so to rest and get gas anyway. If you are 350 pounds I say ride in a truck or go to the gym.The 1st gen Vmax gets closer to forty, than twenty to the gallon.”Cruiser”does not just mean:Slow.GoldWings and FLH’s are for big guys who should be in an F truck. If you need high bars to support your weight and because you can’t lean a bit into the wind, get stronger arms with bulk reps.No manufacturer really builds bikes for people 350 and near six four.

Now,i don’t know if i had to many shots of Makers Mark, but I heard that the Ducati Monster comes in a diesel version, also?

I think its ugly too. It actually puts me in mind of the Alien in the first Alien movie, they both share similar lines …..that’s how ugly it looks. I think all modern bikes, especially the race inspired ones, look like SeaDoos with wheels.

Maybe too much black but Hey, fredp, I am drooling over this one! peace
