During the last 3 years, British Columbia based Azzkikr Custom Cycle acquired a great reputation for its ability to build stylish radical baggers. Custom touring bikes created for Canadians who can’t ride yearly but who, when weather permits, want very comfortable and reliable bikes for very long distance rides made to compensate winter frustration.
But when scheduling is not on track because the UPS guy still didn’t show up with the essential parts required to finish a couple of baggers, what do they do? For a change, they build a naked chopper!
This one was already a chassis languishing in the showroom during a couple of years when they decided it deserved all their attention. A project to remain simple, rideable and not taking too much time from other clients.
Frame & front end both come from Anthony at Chassis Design in California, offering a superb platform to start from. The Azzkikr crew left the frame mostly intact but brought its own touch to the front end, adding gussets, fabricating a one-off shock cover and welding brackets for Canada required road legal turn signals. For a 70’s flair, a polished Ultima 96″ Shovelhead replica (dual plugs) is paired with an Ultima Kicker transmission. A Sportster tank was modified for perfect level adjustment and fit to the backbone frame. A custom exhaust was bended in-house then baffled to prevent Canadian Jonny law from handing out very expensive noise tickets.
For the rest, only the bare essentials to make this chopper start, run and brake while keeping its nostalgic past era chopper feel. Just a switch box to crank, kill engine and power the lights. Propriatery Azzkikr mini ape bars, but shortened with a center top tree to go with the funky Girder front end. Crime Scene sourced headlight, taillight and air cleaner. Arlen Ness controls. A “Traveling Man” seat pan covered with a Rafino seat. All electricals and cables in cloth covers. For paint strength, frame and DNA stainless spoke wheels are powder coated . Good bar hopper
thanks for the post Cyril .We always sincerely appreciate it
The “luxurious” version of what backyard builders love to build.
Hard on the butt (rigid frame, no seat suspension) but nice for a youngster.
I notice that credit is given to Anthony at Chassis Design, one of the best frame builders. Not many builders give him credit for its chassis.
@shifter : the seat is on as leaf spring ,its incredibly comfortable .Check up travelling man seat pans ,you barely need to cover them with anything ,the way he shapes them are remarkable
@p.hamilton : we agree chassis design makes a very good product ,i believe he is definitely one of the best in the industry we actually have another one of his frames in the works for another chopper with a leaf spring girder front end . We mostly build our frames in house ,but his was the perfect shape and you cant beat the price for what you get .
Canadians must not share the green color superstition.
We don’t Semper, Love green
Hey Cyril, great post, that is one superb looking machine. No superstitions here, I’d take it for a spin round the block
New school – Old school
Whatever you want to call it, it sure is cool
Nice job guys !!!!!
No Doubt about Anthony …he has done several frames for us over the past years and each one ..a show stopper !
38, 39 whatever it takes.
NICE!, bikes ok too.
We are looking forward to Len and his team joining us in October at the 13th Annual Las Vegas BikeFest. Len is one of the invited builders for the Artistry in Iron competition.
@GATOR —–Mr.mom reference right ? hahahaha wicked movie .
BTw the 39 special came from the owners son having 39 painted on pretty much every one of his bikes its become a theme .The first version of the bike was to have mother of pearl inlays and all nickel plated like a 38 special pistol ,it obviously changed themes since then but the name stuck .
HK-Thanks for putting our parts on such a great bike. It is great to see them in action. If you are going to Las Vegas this year, would love to chat about your next builds of this type.
