Öhlins is introducing the FKC 101 Fork Cartridge Kit, a high-quality, high-tech front fork kit conceived specifically for the FLH/FLT Harley-Davidson Touring Baggers. This is the first-ever Bagger Fork Kit released by Öhlins and the company states that when installed in conjunction with a set of Öhlins shocks, you obtained an incomparably balanced suspension package, never before available for H-D Touring motorcycles,
As described by Tomas Andersson, Manager MC R&T Aftermarket at Öhlins Racing AB, “The goal with the FKC 101 project was to create a high-end cartridge damping system with great performance, to a reasonable price for the Harley-Davidson Touring front forks. The kit is the same concept we use for our hyper-sport front forks, but with a smaller piston. For this application we focused on vehicle control, and a smooth ride.”
The Öhlins FKC 101 Cartridge Kit features the high-end internal components of 8 mm steel shafts, aluminum damper tubes, and 25 mm pistons. The kit has NIX-type damping: one fork leg has compression only, while the other leg takes care of rebound only. By segregating compression from rebound, the NIX-type system maximizes the damping that’s available within the confined diameter of a fork leg.
The FKC 101 has no external adjustors due to FLH/FLT fork-leg mounting requirements. Optional spring rates are available for rider weights, preferences, and motorcycle use. Available January 2014 for an estimated MSRP of $1000. Öhlins USA can be contacted at: 828-692-4525.
A little pricey but good stuff
All you need for a good front end and better handling……………Sorry I forgot, better tires, high grade shocks, stiffer triple clamps and a True-Track system.Ah the pleasures of riding over fifty miles per hour.
Hallelujah!!!. I hope this gets rid of the nose dive i get when braking hard
Now all they need is a decent lean angle…lipstick on a….Hog!
Quite pricey. I’m sure they are great products but please a thousand bucks for one hundred dollars of products. Great products but market and price them more resonably.
Great, high tech forks, low tech engine.
Cartridges definitely improve the front end but $1000 is just ‘gouging’ the customer, plain and simple. There are a couple of other brands that do equally good cartridge systems like Bitubo and others and you aren’t being over charged 1/3rd the price just for name recognition.
bart65,Bitubo is not in the same league of quality, durability or function as Ohlins and a few other quality high-end brands. These cartridges are most likely rebuildable and Bitubo ones are usually throwaway.
just curious if they are for the 41mm or new 49mm fl forks or for both?
In the same neighborhood as Traxxion, hopefully works as well.
The Progressive ones are 1/3 of the price and i think race tech has some also?
1$$$ for cartridges is a lil too much for these low tech Harleys
