Ape Hangers don’t just bolt themselves on and in addition to choosing the correct height they want matched extended cables, electrical and brake lines. How long should that line be? Should throttle cables have a 45 degree bend in them? How do I route my clutch cable? All good questions and all requiring some level of experience and expertise or you end up spending money ordering many wrong cables and fittings…
… unless you use a Burly Extended Control Kit, that is. Each kit is designed to mate a specific height bar to your late model Softail. Available for 14”, 16” and 18” Ape Hangers and now offered in a bright braided stainless finish. Burly has engineered each package to end the guesswork, mismatched lines and floppy cables by including extended throttle cables, extended clutch cable, extended brake line and even wiring harness extensions specific to the year of your bike. Each kit even includes instructions to help walk you through the install. Fits most 2000-2013 Softail models. Check out the Burly Brand Website or contact your local dealer for more information.
Cool. May need them for my rebuilt FLH.
It was time somebody do it.
For the clutch, both cable and hydraulic available?
… same ones you can buy from Custom Chrome for a bit less. Yeah, ordered a few times from them and these work great.
If installation is as straight forward as described, I am a client when I decide how high I want my bars.
WheelerDealer, Cable clutch only for now. Not too many hydraulic clutch Softails.
Tommy, Not the same and in full kit form (no guessing, no buying the wrong length, no missing electrical, etc.). Kits includes everything you need in the correct lengths for a specific bar on a specific Softail.
Patrick, thanks. Appreciate your input.
Braided Stainless Bagger kits next month!
Excellent product.
When I upgraded my 2014 Deluxe to the 16″ Burly bars I decided to retain my stock 4.5″ pullback riser. Keep in mind that Burly measures their cables based off a 2″ riser. If you plan to use a higher riser, you must take that into account. I opted for the 18″ cable kit and the throttle/electrical/clutch worked great. The brake cable worked but an extra inch or two would have been nice.
Zyon is correct, we base the kit lengths on a standard 2″ riser.
