Harley-Davidson is moving all of its Bike Week festivities to one convenient location, the Daytona International Speedway. “After several years with our displays split between Beach Street and Daytona International Speedway, we’re consolidating into one action-packed display at the Speedway to make it easier for our fans to experience everything we have in one easy-to-access location,” said Paul James, Harley-Davidson Director of Consumer Events. “And on Saturday, March 8, we’ll be electrifying our display with an exciting special announcement at 1 p.m. that our fans will not want to miss.”
Harley-Davidson’s display at Daytona International Speedway will be rocking from Sat., March 8 to Sat., March 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with free motorcycle parking and a wide range of displays and activities.
Among them, display of 2014 model year motorcycles, Genuine Motor Accessories, Harley-Davidson MotorClothes apparel and accessories, the Fit Shop, H-D1 customization, the Ride-In Custom Bike Show, a Women’s Area, Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) motorcycle raffle, Willie G. and H.O.G. merchandise, beverages, musical entertainment and more.
Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) events in Daytona include a pin stop at the Speedway and nightly Happy Hours exclusively for H.O.G. members (with one guest) from 4-6 p.m. Sat., March 8 through Fri., March 14 with limited refreshments provided. The 8th Annual MDA Women’s Ride takes place Tues., March 11 with registration at the Speedway starting at 7 a.m., a 10 a.m. departure, and arrival at Destination Daytona at approximately 10:45 a.m.
The Harley-Davidson Ride-In Custom Bike Show will be held Wed., March 12 at the Speedway. Registration is 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a $15 MDA donation. Trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. in eight classes. (Harley-Davidson will also be a small presence at Bikers on the Boulevard on Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard in Daytona Beach March 13-15 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.) For a complete listing visit Harley-Davidson Events During Daytona Bike Week,
Something is very misleading in Harley’s press release. It say “All activities moved to speedway” and then it contradicts itself by saying also at Mary BetuneMcCloud Blvd. so some are at speedway not all!
Brilliant !
Great choice with much less congestion.
Boss Hawg
OK see u out there Mr Paul James
At least the new bikes will be there. They sure as hell wern’t at Sturgis.
Because I live in Mount Dora which is about an hour from Daytona I love this location.
…move it all to the Speedway so it can be more like Disney (!!!) then, the developers can ‘doze down the rest of the old beach front for condos, Starbucks etc… etc… etc… Pretty transparent.
What’s next? Double-decker buses, tour packages…… and FastPass + ? Later Jay
That’s going to leave a huge hole on the river front.
Daytona beach street was already tee shirts, sunglasses and sausages row. Now a place to avoid if you don’t want to spoil your Daytona bike week.
I wonder who else is setting up on Beach Street?
Personally I think they should go back to the convention center downtown. They always did it up right there. My personal opinion (yes I get one) is that since moving out of the convention center their Daytona display has been second rate. With that said, moving it to the racetrack may allow them to do a better job this year. Hope so.
PS. The same for Sturgis. Be nice if they moved back to the Rapid City convention center and did it the old way…which was much better than what they have been doing on Lazelle Street in recent years.
any chance this “special announcement” on 3/8 will be the new Road Glide?
I always liked going down to the Indian dealer, Carl’s and see who was on the porch for dirt cheap draft and hot dogs.
I doubt it will be a brand new model unveiling on March 8. A public unveiling is usually something already unveiled to dealers & media. And it’s not such an event. So, The Street?
I agree with Bob if they are going to move it then move it to the Convention Center….
Bob,
They are trying to impress the people who count, i.e. the stockholders!
