The Yamaha SR400, launched in 1978 and still produced today, is a legendary classic that never failed to keep its retro 1970’s styling. Today, this timeless big single remains one of the best performing 399 cc air-cooled engines. A great donor bike to celebrate the art of Cafe Racer via a relatively small customization budget.
With “Grievous Angel” Deus Ex Machina succeeds again at turning an humble motorcycle into an expression of applied art able to excite many riders, from youngsters to old timers. A machine that you can buy, as featured, in 3 continents where Deus has a local presence: USA (Los Angeles), Europe (Milan) & Australia (Sydney)
This “Angel” is an excellent representation of motorcycling’s core values: simple in lines, with a beautiful powertrain architecture and meanness touches to express the rebellious nature of those ready to challenge speed on their city streets. A machine whose aesthetics will for sure stand the test of time.
This small run production bike features the expected ducktail seat and bullet fairing, an underslung stubby exhaust, front and rear disk brakes paired to gold calipers and braided lines, AVON Speedmaster tires and murdered out in all black. Deus Ex Machina.
Looks like budget fun!
Great. The Cafe Racer genre nicely updated.
Currently, Triumph is the most customized brand after Harley.
Like much
Great job.
Kewler dan dat, ya freeze 🙂 ! Seriously, how refreshing after them bagger monstrosities…
Two different bikes here….. the top one is Deus’ original carburetor bike which I believe is an older SR500 (rear disc brake), and the other one is their redux based on the recently re-introduced SR400 that has fuel injection (drum rear brake). Closeups are a mix from both bikes.
Pretty cool.
I would have guessed the XS 650 Yamaha was more popular than the Triumph. Being a better bike and all.
Beautiful.
At almost $15K AU, definately not budget.
All things “Rocker” are Way Cool.
And so is this.
Let the Good (ol) Times Role……. 🙂

Motorcycles are not about finding a bargain or comparing horsepower to everyone. They are expressions of who you are. I hope everyone finds a bike that makes them happy and that they love to ride. That is what it is about. I would love a new bike but my old, beat up ’91 Nighthawk still makes me smile and I can’t wait to ride it every chance I get. To me it seems all the new bikes are overpriced but if I saw someone buy this bike and they love it I would not question their decision. I would be happy to see them riding and having a great time.
Sweet.
Very Nice!
Very nice bike, Deus rarely disappoints.
