Dream Ride Kickoff Sends Riders Off On 1,900-Mile Trip to Benefit Special Olympics

dreamride1dreamride2Dreamride3allenwestDreamride5Being a Floridian, I could not miss the festivities of this Saturday morning August 16 at the West Palm Beach PGA National Resort & Spa from where a caravan of motorcyclists and accompanying exotic car drivers departed for a 1,900-mile ride through the Middle-Atlantic States and into New England to benefit athletes of the Special Olympics. The Dream Ride raises awareness and funds for the athletic accomplishments of those with intellectual disabilities Enthusiasm for motorsports and helping those with intellectual disabilities inspired grocery magnate Michael Bozzuto, from Bozzuto’s Inc., to organize the Dream Ride, a 13-year old New England event that extends now to Florida for its second year. Bozutto told me that he is has already raised close to $1,000.000  with a series of events he organized this year on the east coast. Ex Florida Congressman and Fox contributor Allen West (R) joined the ride.

Dreamride6The Palm Beach County Sheriff Department participated in the event and escorted the riders on their 10 AM departure from the resort. “The Dream Ride and Kickoff have become real community events that bring everyone together for a worthy cause,” says Florida coordinator, Megan Weinberger, “When we see the joy on the faces of the Special Olympics athletes, it’s so inspiring and we appreciate the support of all those who help make this event possible.”  Donations to Special Olympics can be made online at Dream Ride.
