I now have FI. Flawless! I had three electra glides that had carbs. They all were tuned so lean (for emissions req.) that screwing with the choke for 7/8 miles was a pain. It could be especially bad when I would forget the choke was half closed…The FI eliminates all that. However, I really miss the potato-potato at idle. Hopefully this tube will eliminate the lean “condition” later” models exhibited.

One of the most frustrating things over the past 25 plus years of my career has been watching consumers and mechanics misunderstand carburetors and engine tuning requirements. The evolution in the HD world of carburetors (and any other brand) from a “Choke, to an Enrichner and then to an EFI enrichment look up table ” was all for reason. Cold, warm and hot engines all require different AFR’s. The dealers/mechanics for years(still do!) would jet these carburetors to rich to meet the requirement of a cold engine. This would deal with the customer complaint of a lean engine to simply satisfy their impatience for the engine to warm up. This causes multiple other compounding issues. Anyhow, hopefully this new emulsion tube is an innovative product people can utilize correctly and not just use it to satisfy their impatience. Now if we can just get them to understand EFI software… because I see the same pattern evolving. A little saturday morning vent…

I would have to say that the majority of Harley owners (didn’t say bikers) don’t have a clue as to how the mechanical or electrical or fuel systems work. Their tool of choice is a credit card. Not that that’s a bad thing for shops, but the continual demand for more rider convenience (read laziness) and EPA rules and regulations has transformed a simple, enjoyable machine into complicated and expensive proprietary statements,

    Your too kind.
A more concise expression would be:

“… the continual yammering of the unwashed masses for easier ways to participate in an activity they are simply not capable of undertaking is turning a enjoyable past time into a major pain in the ass…”
