New Helmet With Built-In Voice Control And GPS Navigation

helmetThis helmet is expected to go on sale in the US in summer 2015. Conceived by Livemap, a Russian startup with seeds money provided by the Russian Ministry Of Science, this high tech helmet goes where no other high tech helmet never went.

Among other features, it displays high resolution directions directly in a rider’s field of vision with such transparency that the rider’s vision is never blocked. The technology involves the use of aspheric lenses much smaller, lighter and less expensive than multi-lens designs.

Skully Helmets has already developed a motorcycle helmet offering “a fighter pilot-style Heads Up Display”,a 180 degree rear-view camera and eliminating the need for rear-view mirrors. Livemap is dismissing its main competitor stating that their product has a tiny screen, a low saturation, contrast and low resolution…

Its an interesting concept (like a fighter pilot) but in this day and age of car drivers that can’t drive, are distracted by their own social media technology, ya-gotta ask yourself….. “do i need any more distractions while riding among all these other idiots”…… ???

    Just a thought.

A lot of us ride to get away from these type of distractions! What’s next, being able to ride your Hog without actually being on it?

Sounds like a useful thing to have in a strange country. No word about data security/privacy on the website though. I should expect my riding tracks to be communicated with some sort of central data centre. Creepy.

No mention of 3D video game capability. I just want to play some Warcraft while commuting.

Tell me when they remove the weight so the chances of being paralyzed aren’t 38% greater than being lidless when my head bounces like a rubber ball in a collision.

I like. Currently, I ride with my. SHOEI modular helmet Bluetooth connected mic’d, and with speakers. That setup is paired with my RAM mounted smartphone, and almost all functions are voice command,,and Bluetooth enabled. Further, I ride my ’12 H-D EGUL with upper faring Garmin/H-D customized satcomm, voice commanable, and Bluetooth enabled RoadTech Navigation (gps, lifetime males, road camera placement alert warnings, realtime satellite weather and traffic mapping), mp3 music from both easily mounted/dismounted units. Thus, what I DON’T have is light sensor, 180° rearview, and a HUDaddition to being highly disciplined and vigilant about equipment and road safety — anally so. Risk of serious injury and property damage is too high and can occur at anytime if I I’m not for a as much as a several seconds.NONE of the above distracts me. In fact, they aid in making me a safer, less fatigued, and LESS distracted rider — enabling me to focus more on the road, 360° scanning of diver/rider/object placement, and motion (if any). I almost never ride without music and alerts piped into my helmet. On the highway, I connect my phone’s mp3 or radio music to an HTC Bluetooth dongle inserted into my bike’s entertainment system and blast — helps increase driver awareness of my presence. I make no outgoing calls while riding and I take select calls to inform I’ll call when my ride is done (or @ next waypoint maybe). Every rider needs to be rigorously honest, imho, with themselves and conservative regarding their skill level, as well as never trust anyone else’s. I am, in add

Oops! The last couple thoughts starting with “additionally …” somehow inserted higher up in my discourse. Sorry about any confusion that causes, if any.

    Ken,
I thought I was hip adding a digital clock to my ride.
    Whoo!

The 180 deg. Camera sounds good to me. One of my biggest fears while riding is being hit from behind while at a red light. The rest you can keep. Riding my bike on a back road is one of the last places I can escape to. ..Z

Technology is Fantastic, but this is not the Technology that we riders need? We need lighter Helmets and more Comfortable Helmets. We need to Ride and not hear the Wind and Resonance? We want to be able to take survive a blow if necessary, due to the other Techno Citizens riding in their Cages while using the Internet while they are Driving! I want a Helmet that does all the above without feeling like I’m Wearing a Helmet. Got it USA! Let the Russians Ride with that Crap and we will wait till a US Factory develops the Helmet I described!

If I want to play a video game
I park my cycle & get on the x-box
or go to an arcade (do they even have those anymore) ??
Got enough distractions from other drivers to be distracted myself
