What’s going to happen when a Singshot driver try’s to drive his wider that a Corvette Slingshot down Sturgis Main St. and dominos a row of motorcycles because it’s way to wide? Or a bunch of Slingshots park motorcycle style backed into the curb blocking the road?

The Slingshot is neither a motorcycle nor a car — although it drives more like a car than a bike. In my opinion, a Can-Am Spyder isn’t a motorcycle either. Ultimately, wheel configuration dictates different riding/driving skill requirements. Reverse trikes simply do not handle like a motorcycle, regardless of seating position. Hell, regular trikes and motorcycles with sidecars don’t handle like a motorcycle either.

To me, the current problem is that the states have different licensing requirements. Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think Washington State might be onto something. They require a sidecar/trike endorsement. Perhaps we need a standardized 3rd classification of vehicle for trikes to address their unique attributes.
