Actor William Shatner Launching Rivet Motors to Produce A Two-Seater Trike

I didn’t know that Canadian-American actor, singer, writer, producer, director, spokesman, and comedian William Shatner loves motorcycles. At the age of 83, he starts a company named Rivet Motors in partnership with Kevin Sirotek of American Wrench. Shatner describes his 2-seater project “as the cycle of the future, a machine as distinguished and iconic as the man himself.” Well I let you judge in these 2 videos… When ready, Shatner will do a promotional ride with “The Rivet” from Chicago to Los Angeles.

Assuming a trike like this and Elio actually make it to market, and considering the apparent instant success of the Slingshot, along with the trouble it’s had being registered in a couple states…I predict some new laws will be written in 2015! Lol.

As they say “a fool and his money are easily parted”. I suspect perhaps a senior scam in the making.

What he said. Legislation hasn’t caught up to this new breed of “open-air-vehicles” but anyone knows they aren’t motorcycles; just skirting current technicalities as a yet undefined mode of transportation.
As they get more popular and as more people crash in them, legislation will respond

William Shatner is out of the world and reality!

I love it. What an insane idea. I cant see it succeeding comercially but as a one off I would love to see it. Good luck Mr Shatner, I hope I have a vision like you if I get to 83.

Chicago to LA, pretty brave for an 83 year old, I know , I know, there are probably other 83 year olds who ride long distances, but it takes balls for anyone that age. Bravo!

With all due respect Wm, if you do this trip on that contraption, you still will not have crossed this country on a motorcycle.

As a piece of art, it’s cool looking. Looks like something that should be on a playground for kids to play on. Who is really going to ride this thing?

What the heck does Shatner know about bikes or trikes? The Slingshot has a background of a company that is making motorcycles and decided to branch out but Shatner says he “has never been across the country on a motorcycle” then says he will drive this abortion across from Chicago. The Slingshot is not a motorcycle and neither is this thing.

Think I’l stay with a Can-Am Spyder or a Slingshot if I get a wild hair.
At 83 I wish “Captain Kirk” all the luck in the world

I like Capt. Kirk, but is his goal a contraption for himself or something for the mass market? If it’s the latter, he reminds me of a Capital Hill politician, out of sync with reality.
