Harley-Davidson Signs On Again As Official Motorcycle Of Daytona Bike Week

H-DBikeWeekBisThe Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce announced that for the 27th year in a row, Harley-Davidson is the official motorcycle brand sponsor of the upcoming 74th Daytona Bike Week to be held March 6 through 15, 2015.

“Having an American icon like Harley-Davidson associated with our event is ideal. Their dedication to Bike Week year after year is greatly appreciated, and we also thank their loyal base of motorcycle enthusiasts.”said Phil Maroney, co-chair of the Bike Week Festival Task Force.

    I don’t understand, maybe somebody can explain.

    What impact does an “official sponsor” have? HD probably paid a bunch of money to the city or whomever the organizer is and the organizer allows them to hang HD signs everywhere and limits other manufacturer’s signage is some areas?

    Is that it? I’m not making any type of critique or statement here, just trying to understand the relevance of the official sponsor.

    I’m with Chris, what in the heck does that mean ????
    if H-D is the “Official Sponsor” that does mean anybody on any other bike gets the boot ?
    Gets hassled more than an H-D rider? Get your tires slashed? What ???
    Does it mean that H-D gets to put up more ad/billboard space in town?
    No really, i kind of thought that all the brand bashing
    and it’s H-D vs. metric & all that kind of stuff had gone by the way side?
    Just remember that both Victory & Indian are made right here in the good ol’ US of A.
    Neither is a metric !!!! ( Oh boy did I open a can of it or what ??)
    Does Polaris (Victory / Indian) know about this?
    Do they actually care?
    From what I’m seeing/reading about their presence at almost EVERY major rally
    I would guess NOT !!!!
    I’m so confused ? can someone please explain it to me / us ????
