7-time land speed record holder and Texas Mile 200 MPH Club member Valerie Thompson hoping to set new personal best top speed when she returns to Beeville, Texas Match 27-28 for the Texas Mile in an attempt to break her personal best record of 217.7 MPH, and strengthen female racing worldwide. Now with new sponsor Quicksilver Powersports Lubricants supporting her efforts, Thompson looks to inspire women and girls everywhere to set personal goals and achieve them. Having earned the 2011, “American Women Riders Community Hero Award” from HopeKids.org, she hopes this year’s attempt at Texas Mile will inspire young female motorcycle riders to break records of their own.
“Courage is the best characteristic a woman can have. As long as you have courage, nothing can stop you!” says Thompson who established her 217.7 MPH record last year at Texas Mile. “I’m absolutely thrilled to come back to Texas Mile and set another personal best! ”My team is ready and we’re coming to hit hard!” The Valerie Thompson Racing team will provide free battery charging services, compliments of CTEK Battery Chargers, and Knockout Energy Drinks for competitors and race attendees during the three-day speed event.
The Texas Mile is a bi-annual Motorsports Festival created for high-performance vehicle enthusiasts, welcoming motorcycles, performance streetcars, race cars and land speed racers. The Texas Mile has grown rapidly since its inaugural event in October 2003. Participants come from all over the United States, Canada and Mexico to test themselves and their motorized equipment on the fastest and most challenging 1-mile track in the world. Competitors achieve their top speed on a 1-mile course with a shut down area measuring a half-mile.
