Motorcycles As Art By Michael Lichter. Skin & Bones Tattoo Inspired Motorcycles To Be Exhibited At Sturgis Buffalo Chip.

skinandbonesCustom motorcycle builders and artists prove beauty isn’t just skin deep in the Skin & Bones Sturgis exhibition curated by Michael Lichter. The one-time “Skin & Bones” motorcycles will be exhibited at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s Russ Brown Events Center (entrance near the east gate) from Sunday August 7 to Friday August 12, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. And the exhibit is FREE.

Creating a custom motorcycle masterpiece worthy of being chosen for this exhibit requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering and aerodynamics, as well as an innate appreciation for style and design. The “skin” of each bike in this exhibit must work flawlessly with its inner “bones.” To that end, builders will expose their personalities to you by lending an added layer of tattoo design to the outside of what already were remarkable machines.

The 34 builders who earned the invitation to display one of their motorcycles in the 2016 Skin and Bones Michael Lichter’s exhibit are listed after the jump.

Too bad Lou Falcigno isn’t in the mix. Not sure if he is still around. C & L bikes inspired more builds than most give credit for. Saw one in Thunder Cycles window in the mid 90’s and haven’t been the same since.
