That motor is all ready a bear, watch out HD !!!
It’s nice to see Victory offer performance options. But for those interested, same as with Harley and their SE parts, the aftermarket outperforms factory options. The most popular aftermarket cam kits boost power by 30% and is a very nice and smooth running combo. Yes, the motors handle the upgrades very well, add a big bore kit and clutch plate and these motors put 130-140 hp down at the wheel. I’m sure there are many riders who will prefer the option of dealer installed with warranty though, nice job Victory.
2 HD dealers told me that their sales are relatively slow and that Indian steals sales from them…
Victory is getting strong. Not as strong as Indian, but progressing very well..
S&S does it again!
S&S rebuild Harley engines and makes Victory engines more powerful. Next step is Indian?
This “partnership”…OEM and an aftermarket supplier/a competitor for service parts seems remarkable. Is this a first or am I just behind the times???
richards, I’m just going to make a wild guess that Victory knows that Harley guy knows and trusts the S&S label. If long time Harley guy finally decides to visit a Victory dealer and give these bikes a try, what interests him more, a bike with a Victory stage 2 cam upgrade available, or a factory warrantied S&S stage 2 cam upgrade? It’s a marketing ploy, and unlike other attempts I think Victory did pretty well here.
Indian may “steal” sales from Harley – it happened when I bought my Scout a few weeks ago – but MANY Indian dealerships are located right next to an H-D dealership. I thought this was a shrewd decision on Indian’s part. However, I have learned from my travels around the US that in almost all of the instances I have seen, the Indian and H-D shops are owned by the same dude, so he wins either way. Shrewd on HIS part for sure,
Bob, could be I guess. I know from (Heavy Duty market) experience that the OEM’s will in some instances purchase production and/or service parts from manufacturers who are in the business of selling in the aftermarket. This is contingent of course that the OEM specifications are not used to make aftermarket parts. However, being in partnership with a aftermarket supplier seems to me to be precedent setting. Normally, the OEM would simply contract with the manufacturer to make the parts and sell them under the engine manufacturers name. Seems strange…
Caveat Emptor. ..Z
This is not the first time Victory has used S&S , I have a S&S air cleaner on my 06 Jackpot .
Eh Greg…there’s a slight dif. S&S making parts as an aftermarket company vs. the factory offering S&S parts as a warrantied street legal upgrade. This is Victory cashing in on the reputation of S&S for a dealer installed and warrantied upgrade. As someone whose been very critical of Victory’s marketing in the past I give them huge kuddos for this. S&S means something to a lot of guys that a “Victory S2 upgrade” wouldn’t be as impressed with. BTW, Lloyd’s Torque Tubes and a PC-III make a really nice improvement on the S&S intake 🙂
Whenever a Good New Manufacturer enters the Market in motorcycles or Windows, their sheer presence calls for STEALING Sales from their Competition. When a Great Manufacturer like Polaris Industries does what they are doing, building a Great Product its only going to take Business away from H-D and Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki etc. What needs to be done is to Bring First Time Riders into the Love of riding Motorcycles, even if we have to go after, Golfers!#%&?
