Certainly an unhappy failure when out on the road.
Can spend a day at a dealer’s instead of being in the wind.
Not to mention screwing up your trip schedule.
    Been there, done that…. 🙁

    This looks like good insurance.

Seems that Zippers redesigned this tensioner a couple of years ago for the same reason. How is this design any better.

HD Rider is correct, Zipper’s released their dual piston tensioner a couple of years ago and they figured out that two pistons are better than a single. I have used Zipper’s tensioner and it is far superior to a single piston tensioner.

Product is on the S&S site. Under Oil Pumps & Cam Plates. You can only buy it from a dealer though.

Link in the description that takes you right to it on the website. It’s even colored blue to “tip you off” -. Nice work S&S!

Cam chain tensioner failed on my twin cam while on vacation. Happened to be in Milwaukee at the time. 6 hours and $1100 later and I had the screaming eagle up grade. I had too many miles on it to install the gear drive S&S cams. A solution for that problem is what I’d like to see.
