Marco was a German company founded in 1926 by brothers Wilhelm and Otto Maisch to build small two-stroke lightweight motorcycles. Production of these motorcycles was interrupted during WWII, the company shifting its production to the manufacture of components for the German army. Motorcycle production resumed in 1947 with for main model the Taifun (Typhoon in English) a 350 cc then a 400 cc air cooled single cylinder machine. Main features included a single down-tube, an automatic clutch inside the transmission, a duplex chain final drive, a swinging-arm rear suspension, a leading-link front fork. It was marketed as the ultimate touring machine but was dropped in 1958, all Germans and Europeans having their mind on acquiring an automobile.
