2016 Cannonball Race Of The Century. Stage 7 Results.

1cb2cb4cbFriday’s ride out of Missouri included a trip along Historic Route 66 through small rural communities nestled between corn and soybean crops/ Then riders found themselves in the midst of a deluge. Again. For the seventh day on the road, 71 Cannonball warriors took to the field and charged headlong into the wind, rain, thunder and lightening to cross over into Kansas. There was even a dab of hail just to liven things up a tad.

3cbBy the time the herd rolled into a welcome gathering of Cannonball supporters who laid out a tasty lunch spread in Parsons, Kansas, everyone was soaked through clear to the core. All the participants and crews collectively shivered through the pulled pork, baked beans and hot coffee before the Motorcycle Cannonball’s Director of Operations, Jason Sims stood on a chair to announce his decision to suspend the run for the day. Riders who had made it to the lunch stop were given all the points and allowed to trailer their machines to the end point.

Dinner was hosted by Kelly Modlin, Cannonball rider #24, and his family and the newly opened Twisted Oz Motorcycle Museum. Grilled steak and all the accoutrements were dished up for famished and freezing riders as a steady stream of locals toured the museum and checked out the Cannonball bikes. There were 13 riders who did not start, and their status will be figured out during the one day of rest, Sunday, which will be spent in Dodge City, Kansas. As usual, ranking after the jump.
