After 9 days on the road, the Motorcycle Cannonball riders were staring down what they considered the most crucial day of the 16-day run. Realizing the altitude could effect riders as much as the steep inclines would affect the engines had crews and pilots concerned as they hit the road for the 264-mile day into Durango, Colorado. By day’s end the anticipated Wolf Creek Pass turned out to be less devastating that most had feared.
Of the 60 riders who took the green flag, 21 rolled out with perfect scores. As they crossed the finish line at Durango H-D at the end of the day, only 1 had lost that distinction.
Today’s Wednesday start saw a downpour that would mean exactly half of the race saw grey skies, and 4 of those days included rain, but Wednesday’s riders took the green flag and rolled off toward the Four Corners and Arizona’s arid terrain. Results after stage 10 after the jump.
