Many were thrilled that the event wasn’t cancelled, but Hurricane Matthew put a big damper on the festivities.
The crowds were way down, many beachside hotels were vacant, shops were mostly empty and bars didn’t have the usual high octane biker atmosphere.
Georgia and the Carolinas also having been hard hit by Hurricane Matthew, very few out of state license plates could be seen on cars and motorcycles.
Yet, those who made it to Daytona seemed happy and enjoyed their stay in a city where workers are still working around the clock to clean up the streets from destruction debris and to restore power to those affected.
Daytona looked sad with all the destruction, but I bumped into Cyril Huze, Billy Lane and Bill Dodge whose pictures are in this post. Ha, worth my 100 mile ride!
Yep, the big guys were in Daytona.
The other guy I recognize (talking to the guy on orange shirt) is Warren Lane.
and only one deplorable woman?
Was not cancelled and it showed these bikers are not fare weather riders.
