Atlanta Flat Track Racing. A three-Way Indian Motorcycle Podium.

One week after giving Indian Motorcycle its historic first victory in American Flat Track competition at Daytona International Speedway, Jared Mees on his Indian Scout FTR750 made it two in a row Saturday evening March 25, 2017 with his win at the Atlanta Short Track presented by Indian Motorcycle.

The three-time Grand National Champion was part of a podium sweep for the Indian “Wrecking Crew” in front of a near-capacity crowd at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Ga.

For Brad Baker it was sweet redemption to take the number two spot on the podium after a rough Daytona. Bryan Smith, 3rd place, went into Atlanta hoping for a win, but in the end the defending champ was happy to leave the first two rounds second in the points as the series heads to longer circuits.

It looks like Indian is dominating the sport with the new Scout FTR 750.

Way to go Indian! Making the MoCo sweat a bit. It’s kinda ironic that the Indians are spanking the XG750R, a Harley built in India:)

Great to see American Flat Track coming back into the racing spotlight. Just wish they had a race closer to me!

Love seeing Team Green out there competing well with the American makes as well. Good time to be a race fan.

Looks like Indian has a real winner in the FTR 750. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that they hired the top three riders in the sport, either.

A few of things jump out, just two races into the series:
The factory team Harley’s are not going to be competitive at all, without some major mods.
The old XR750 is still competitive.

We aren’t to the big tracks yet, so it’ll be interesting to see how the Indians do there… although supposedly they accelerate like a bat out of hell on the straights, so it may actually get worse, instead of better, for the competition.

Indian has to have a version of this bike on the showroom by next year, or lose their exemption under the homologation rules. It’d make perfect sense to have a street version of this thing to compete with the Ducati and Triumph Scramblers.
They are already offering this exact bike for sale through dealerships for just south of 50K, but I don’t know if that satisfies the AFT rulebook or not. Anyone got any idea about that?

I own a 2015 first run Indian Scout and am very proud of the Flat Track teams and their efforts and successes. Best of luck this season.

This is just what I had hoped to see when I started screaming for Indian to bring the Scout back.Best of luck to Triumph, Ducati,Kawsaki and any other mfg interested in flat track. I just hope HD can get their program straightened out again and Indian can sell enough motorcycles to stay afloat.

Since when did 750’s start running short track? More Polindian propaganda.

Showroom propaganda? “Alternate facts” sounds familiar.
