Indian Motorcycle Wins Third Straight In Harley-Davidson Charlotte Half-Mile

Yesterday evening, April st 2017, defending American Flat Track Grand National Champion Bryan Smith scored his first victory of the season in the AFT Twins class presented by Vance & Hines on Saturday evening at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It was a dominant win for Smith (No. 1 Indian Motorcycle backed by Allstate Scout FTR750) beating fellow Indian Motorcycle rider Jared Mees (No. 9 Indian Motorcycle Rogers Racing Indian Scout FTR750) by 3.769 seconds to put an end to his rival’s win streak going into the break.

The evening also marked Indian Motorcycle’s third consecutive 1-2 finish, which could’ve very well been another back-to-back podium sweep if Smith’s teammate Brad Baker on the No. 6 Indian Scout FTR750 hadn’t suffered the bad luck of a mechanical before the halfway mark.

Joining the Indian Motorcycle duo on the podium was Sammy Halbert on the No. 69 Estenson Logistics Harley-Davidson XR750R. Halbert went into Charlotte looking for the win that slipped his grasp last weekend in Atlanta, but was happy to leave with a podium finish for his new team.

Gauthier Captures Third Straight Win In AFT Singles. Dalton Gauthier (No. 22 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ 450F) took his third consecutive victory in AFT Singles competition, leading flag-to-flag in a race slowed by a pair of red flags for multi-bike incidents. The Pennsylvanian pulled away on both restarts and led Brandon Price (No. 92 Kawaski) to the checkered flag by 1.035 seconds.

Again, again and again. The Indian Scout FTR750 is the best.

Its going to be a long year for the HD wrecking crew. The new engine just doesn’t have enough guts!

Indian wrecking crew beating again the new H-D. Bad sign for H-D in 2017.

Do Harley and Indian have an official team name? Hopefully they are not both going to use Wrecking Crew.

Indian may win for the next year or two but they will be out of business by then so it will be a moot point history repeats itself

A little butthurt that H-D lost, Pat h? Pretty pathetic.

I’m glad to see American flat track coming back into the racing spotlight, I just wish there was a race scheduled closer to me. I had several friends at the race in Charlotte and they all said it was a blast.

The joy of competition, HD will dump money into the new 750 and we will reap the benefits in the long run. They had no competition for too long, this is all good for us, the enthusiasts. And it makes going to the races more fun. Happy Days.

FYI. The flat track twins title for the past four years is/was a Kawasaki. Bryan smith. Yes there was a twins title until last year when AMA flat track was changed to (AFT) American Flat Track. and Bryan Smith was National champion on a Kawasaki.
