Legend Of The Motorcycle Pictures

Back from the Legend Of Motorcycle Concours D’Elegance, David Uhl sent me a few pictures telling me that it was great and that he never saw before such a large collection of vintage motorcycles in one place. On the picture, it is sculptor Jeff Decker who did the concours bronze trophies.

The event was held last weekend on the grounds of the Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay, about 30 miles south of an Francisco.

Along with some of the finest examples of vintage iron to be seen anywhere, the event marked an unadvertised milestone in the return of the Indian Motorcyle brand.

IMI, the new factory owners, teamed with Moet & Chandon to show the concept images of the 2008 Indian Chief. The first five units off the line Moet has prepurchased and will be custom painted and trimmed for Moet.

IMI will be at Myrtle Beach, the Branson Indian Rally, Laconia and Sturgis. Look for them. Good things are happening.

I own a 2003 which was a Gilroy,CA bike. The new factory is in King’s Mountain, NC. My model and the new Chief share the frame and the valenced fenders and the powerplant, the 100 inch PowerPlus motor although it has been updated and retooled. Likely EFI although IMI is playing their cards close to their vest on what improvements to expect.

We Indian riders have a saying… “I got mine”. We use it when discussing the roller coaster ride the brand has had. It looks like by late ’07 other riders will get the chance to say that.
