2008 IronWorks Innovation Award Winners

It’s Awards season. During the V-Twin Expo in Cincinnati IronWorks Magazine proudly announced the winners of the 2008 Innovation Awards (made by Pat Patterson of Led Sled Customs in Dayton, OH). These Awards are given to companies who have created outstanding new products for motorcycles. The award recipients are selected by the editors of IronWorks who review each product based on its uniqueness and usefulness to the rider. Each trophy, also known as “The Stempy”, is awarded in honor of the co-founder and editor of the magazine Dennis Stemp who passed away several years ago. His wife, Marilyn, is one of the editors who continue his vision by helping select the winners. The winners are: Big Bear Choppers for its GTX Custom Bagger, Metzeler for its ME880 24” and 21” Tires, Hawg Halters, Inc. for the RoadLok MID Sniper Caliper, and S&S Cycle Inc. for its Sealed Air-Cleaner Kit. Featured is executive director of IronWorks Marilyn Stemp giving a “Stempy” to Brett Smith, President of S&S Cycles.

Each of them is an extremely worth winner. S&S powers on from strength to strength as THE aftermarket industry icon. Big Bear produce arguably the most stylish and best sorted choppers and have now rewritten the book on baggers. I have a Hawg Halters RoadLok MID Sniper and I reckon it’s great. Metzeler have been my tire of choice for many years now with superior road holding design and more advanced profiles than most makes. Good choices all.
