The Return Of Independent Gas Tank Company.

I was glad to learn that founder of Independent Gas Tank Company Kyle Krejci is back in business. After a deal to sell his company fell through last year, Kyle took a one year break and is now back in Gilbert, Arizona, where he restarted producing his handcrafted 16-gauge cold rolled steel tank and 14-gauge steel fenders. As other builders I have collaborated several times with Kyle on some of my custom projects and I am certain that the v-twin industry welcome his return. Independent Gas Tank Company.

He make a very good product!!!

  3. 3 Alfredo Mar 20th, 2008 at 3:08 pm

I wouldn’t buy an ice cream from Kyle……

We had the worst experiences with Independent over the years. he would tell you that your tanks would be ready in three weeks……you call him in four weeks…..and he would tell you that he needs another two weeks to finish it….THAT”S WHY HE WENT OUT OF BUSINESS TO BEGIN WITH…….HE PISSED EVERY BODY OFF!!!!! The entire story about selling his business is nothing but a fairy tale in Disney Land……

I hope that Kyle has changed his ways…..and no we did not miss him….as a matter of fact, other people have stepped in and are doing a better job that he ever did…….and at better prices.

Don’t always believe what you read……..not trying to discredit anybody here….just speaking the truth.

Welcome back in the business Kyle …
your products are a good quality finishing … with a little bit higher price for the european market … so if you could study on that !
I could be happy to distribute your range overseas !

  5. 5 cheesydoesit Mar 20th, 2008 at 3:53 pm

Welcome back Kyle! Hey Alfredo, he didn’t piss me off. It isn’t a fairy tale either…he did sell, and almost got fucked out of everything. The only one discredited here is YOU!!! Best of luck Kyle.

Got one of his tanks. Had no problem.

  7. 7 A 1 CYCLES Mar 20th, 2008 at 4:40 pm

when people complain or tell a story they should list their full name or shop name as to back their complaint i use my shop name..how about it “alfredo” if you had a bad experience it is much more believable if people can identify you. i also had waited for a tank for a customer with them, for the bikes i build we make most of our tanks..its hard and thats why people buy tanks from kyle. and he does build them custom. so its not off the shelf. i guess what i am saying is you wouldnt have to wait if you built your own tanks or used a local shop to build a tank. and quality cost money. so dont hide. not being mean just being real

  8. 8 Dave B. Mar 20th, 2008 at 4:51 pm

I have used their tanks on several occasions over the past few years with no problems… they cost a little more but the good design and smooth lines, I felt made them worth the money. I should also note, that I never had to repair any leaks on any of their tanks, and I can not say that about all other tank manufactures. As far as I’m concerned, I’m glad they are back!

Sorry fellas….but I gotta agree with the Alfredo dude……..

Kyle made a very nice product, no complaints there. However, it took an act of Congress to get the tanks on time. He would hit your credit card at the time that you placed the order and you would finally see your tank two months later. I would leave messages on the answering machine and he would call you back three weeks later. I got into it with him several times about him lying to me…it really pissed me off. He should have just told me the truth from the beginning. He should have at least taken two minutes out of his day and called you back….I understand that we are all busy…..so hire more people. And if you can’t find good people……be honest and tell the customer the truth. We deserve it. We stopped ordering tanks from him after several of those incidents. We now make our own tanks or we get them out of Canada from a very good source, they are obviously better business people than Kyle. Actions speak louder than words and what goes around comes around……I hope that he tells his customers the truth this time around…..or he will be looking for another buyer for his business….again.

Nice tanks…..very expensive…..took too long tough…..hope that he does better this time around.

I used to be the General Manager at Independent Gas Tank Co.I’m no longer in the motorcycle indusrty but I still get the Cyril Huze email. Let’s adrress Alfredo first… Alfredo you own your own bike shop, you used to call and say you had 100 motorcycles sold but you only 2 tanks RIGHT NOW!!! The turnaround time at Independent was always 4 weeks for several years while I worked there. The company specialized and still does in custom built to order, not some off shore tank that sits on a shelf waiting to be bought and then modified. Nothing was ever stocked, period!!! You would always say you would call back with your credit card which you never seemed to have with you… while in the mean time loads of people were getting ahead of you in prodction because your order was not complete, and you failed to call back for a couple of weeks. I know the credit cards we not ran upon receiving the orders because the cards we ran only the week prior to production. I know this since I worked in the office. Alfredo I know you used to try to bum rush Kyle to bump other people out of production due to your procrastination, but Kyle always keep the production fair, he builds in order, on completed orders. and American Cycle Works
I never heard of you, maybe you were before 2003. The company ran great, if a tank didn’t ship on time it was a quality issue because Kyle was anal about the work!!!!!!!!!! I know first hand, sometimes tanks were rebuilt because they did not pass the quality Kyle expected from the crew. In closing Alfredo, the next time the ice cream truck comes down your street don’t forget to bring your credit card, because the ice cream man won’t give you the ice cream without being paid. Ride on

I’m just a redneck who worked in a small shop in Texas that is no longer in business. I was one of the builders there. My boss bought a few tanks from Independent. Fact is that it took us close to two fucking months to get the tanks every time. My boss told me that every time that he would call he would get the same bull shit recording. When we finally got the tank, the quality was good, but not worth the $1,000 plus dollars that we were paying. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why they went out of business…….who the fuck knows.

I hope that they have learned from their mistakes and wish them the best of luck……….

PS. I only buy Ice Cream in Hell !!!!………..

  13. 13 Jeff Mar 20th, 2008 at 11:26 pm

Awesome product, bought 3 tanks, the tanks fit like a glove. Kyle was great to deal with, I had no problems. I will buy from Independent again. Welcome back

    Good Luck

Glad to see Kyle back, I’ve used their products and have always had the finest in workmanship. I make my own tanks, as well as purchase from the outside. Quality comes with a price and time. For those that don’t think so, I’m sure you can find a hammer and a some dollies on e-bay, go to your local hardware store, and get some sheet metal. Start bangin’ and we will see how long it takes!!!

  16. 16 burnout Mar 21st, 2008 at 10:28 am

I order a lot of tanks from HD, granted they are painted but I don’t recall ever getting one quicker than 6 to 10 weeks. A good custom tank is even harder to find. good luck Kyle! peace

  17. 17 ted Mar 21st, 2008 at 11:16 am

Kyle great to hear you’re back. I heard what happened with the buy out. Good for you not letting those mo fos steal your company. We love your stuff and have won best in show many times with your tanks on our bikes. Craftmanship is never cheap, and the hard work shows in the finished product. You will always have haters, when you are the best! Noone makes a btter tank than Independent. Good luck, glad you’re back.

Love, love, love the work. Kyle you are a true artist!!!

    Welcome Back Kyle. Great product

  20. 20 Greg Hoeve Mar 24th, 2008 at 12:42 pm

    Hey Kyle,

Great to have you back. To all those negative wanabees, Screw You. I have known Kyle for years and what happened to him was a crime. Having been through similar circumstances within this industry myself I can only be glad he survived it. I bet the same whiney bitches who talk smack on you are secretly rooting for AIH to make a comeback.

Independant Gas Tank Co. has always had a commitment to excellence and not even your detractors can argue with that. I notice that all the complaints are related to price and delivery. Who are these people? If you have no appreciation for quallity and craftsmanship then spend your money elsewhere please. Just remember when your tank leaks and you have to repaint and lose riding time what a great deal you got. I’m sure the Re-Do on your bike is way less expensive and less agrevating than the couple of hundred bucks you would have wasted on quality. I bet your painter loves to have you come in two days befor “BikeWeekWhatever” with your new emergency. He probably does the repair for free cause you promote him so much. LOL

Custom and built to order is a tough business. If you don’t get at least half the money up front some customers will outright screw you on the job. Kyle is not being unfair running the card up front, he’s being smart! I’ve known Kyle for years and his commitment to quality is without question. We have collaborated on many projects in the past and I look forward to many in the future. All of you who complain about the lead time should look inward. Maybe if you did’nt wait so rediculously long to get your order in it would’nt feel late when you got it. Remember that it’s not an order until the money is green. That phone call you made a couple of weeks ago talking about a job dos’nt count.

    Sincerely,

    Greg Hoeve

    Hi everyone,
First off I would like to say thank you for all the nice things some of you have said about me. To the others, 1st Alfredo. I will
not stoop to your level to comment about you. Kelly already hit the nail on the head. 2nd to the shop that say’s I don’t answer the phone. Sometimes I do not get the phone, I work with ear plugs in my ears most of the day.I don’t get to listen to the radio all day. I cut and grind on metal.(if you ever worked with metal you would know this)So if you call and I do not answer it’s because I can’t hear it. I do have new lower prices which everyone should like. The mishap in selling the company, I was approched and did not look to sell. They came after me!!! If you want to read about who I was dealing with, his name is Larry Lunan. If you google his name you can read all about him. That will give you the scoop…
Again thanks to my friends in this buisness.

  26. 26 Dave M. :} Mar 11th, 2009 at 10:49 pm

    Good luck kyle!

Hey Kyle its Dave! lol I just want to say one thing! PRIDE. you want to know why it might have taken any length of time. Because kyle, Terri, Kelly, myself, and everyone ells that worked in that shop took PRIDE in each and every tank that we built. witch if i may add was ALLOT. I was the Lead welder for kyle and worked for him and with Kelly for over 3 years. I built not only a Business but a personal relationship with kyle and Terri. and yes kyle DID almost get screwed by a bad business deal. i know this personally. i don’t know how he interacted with any one customer but i will tell you that kyle and Terri was not just out for a buck they truly wanted the customer to be happy. After all repeat business was one of the things that kept us in business. Kyle is allot like me a very deep passion and will to succeed. Anyway Kyle, Terri, AND Trev. IF you see this look me up or email me @ Daveandmisty01@yahoo.com. GOOD LUCK to you. David R martin P.s. i would go back to work for you kyle in a heart beat! email me or look me up! Times are hard.
