Later I will have the opportunity to develop more in details the most interesting models and innovations brought by Harley-Davidson with its 2009 line. Follow the most notable aspects.
1- A new V-Rod Muscle with a “broad shouldered presence” with bigger air scoops, large volume dual exhaust and a big 240 mm rear tire. The VRSCAW V-rod and the VRSCD Night Rod Special also feature the 1250 cc Revolution engine, a 240 mm tire, Brembo triple-disc brakes with ABS standard. 2- A Completely New Touring Chassis on the 5 models to deliver better handling, increased capacity and greater comfort for rider and passenger. It’s an all new frame, new swingarm, engine mounting system, wheels and tires. The new frame is approximately 20 percent stiffer than the frame used in 2008, a key factor behind the improved handling. All models also feature air-adjustable rear shocks to accommodate variable passenger and luggage loads. Originally introduced as an option, ABS is now offered as standard equipment on all 2009 Touring. Powertrain revisions include a new 2-1-2 exhaust system that reduces heat exposure to the rider and passenger, and a lower final drive ratio for improved acceleration performance. Rear styling is cleaner, with a wider fender and the elimination of the rear “hoop” over the fender on models not equipped with a Tour-Pak™. 3- The new Sportsters feature a re-tuned suspension and new low profile front fenders on its 7 models. The 883 Custom and 1200 custom models are equipped with lighter rear wheels to reduce unsprung weight. 4- In the Softail line, the FLSTC Heritage Softail classic has been refreshed in an even more retro direction with the use of white walls and new styling cues like a cat-eye console with a new speedometer face. 5- The Dyna line has been restyled. The Street Bob has new bobbed and blacked out features, and all models have a new low profile front fender, anti-fog gauges, new fuel sender 6- The CVO Custom Vehicle Operations line celebrates its 10th anniversary and has 4 models: The Road Glide, The Fat Bob, the Ultra Classic Electra Glide and the Softail Springer. As you know, the CVO models are based on the factory models customized with genuine Harley Accessories and fancier paint jobs.
Later I will publish the pictures of the new models with their tech sheets.

I think the word “innovations” looks like it accidentally got stuck into the story.
Are those new reflectors on the fork legs?
Actually the new frames on the 2009 FL Touring bikes doesn’t look like much but makes a HUGE difference in handling.
I’ve spent some time riding them and am very impressed with the difference. Also like the larger rear tire and cosmetic treatment in the back of the Ultra.
We review and report on this in the new issue (September) of American Iron Magazine. http://www.aimag.com
Harley is working at improving their products since it does come up short compared to other brands of m/cs. Most of the new features usually have been borrowed from the aftermarket and promoted to the general public as “innovative” or created by Harley.
I like the old saying, if you had a choice to fly in an airplane made by Boeing or Harley Davidson, which one would you choose?
if i were flying then boeing fer sure. but if it comes to riding there’s no question. Harley Davidson
I vote for Boeing also
I really can’t complain tooo much, I enjoy keeping harleys on the road. My buddies that fix airplanes are SCARY! peace
The new line up inspires me to play a round of golf.
Hammer , another stupid comment ! somehow i bet you actually do play golf (not a compliment) Have you ridden anything 09 ? i doubt it . If you could only BE half the editor that DAVID SNOW was , then maybe your comments would bear some weight . You are always moaning about something in your lame magazine , some how, some one stole something or some one is not respecting someone else or some other bullshit about how these people dont deserve to ride or something not adding up to something ….fuck you and your and your silly magazine . teach us something , show us something , ride somewhere , interview someone , leave your BITTER ass out of it and maybe your total number base will increase . it takes me 3 minutes to look at your stupid rag then i put it back (dont buy it) and leave saying yep , i did not learn anything , and he (you) is still mad at the world. LONG LIVE THE FACTORY !!!!!!!!!! F.Y.A.H. H is for “hole” mike x.
Gee Mike, chill out. Are those female hormones giving you those monthly “feelings” of anger and need?
Have no fear Hammer, Mike x is just a washed up theif who travels the country on the run from people he has fucked over. The factory would be ashamed if they knew their name was coming out of his stupid lying mouth. Keep running Mike, you are almost out of places to go.
Mike X is a theif! Not to be trusted!
This year’s line-up represents the kind of refinement that we might expect.
Given a less-conservative approach, here’s what the Sportster (or Buell) might have evolved into by now:
