The Secret Weapon Of Chopper Dave. Killer.

Among the custom bikes built to celebrate S&S 50th Anniversary, at least 5 that I would have liked to build. One of them is Chopper Dave’s Secret Weapon that I am featuring here. Dave, as all custom builders, leans toward a certain style of bikes. In his case, as many already know, his preference is the early 70’s style club bikes that the Hells angels were riding at that time. But when back in 2006 Dave discovered the 117” X-Wedge Engine from S&S (from a picture while in a show in Japan!) and felt in love with it, he promised himself (and to S&S) to build his own style of bike with that engine which is technologically almost 35 years ahead of what was used in the 70’s. Dave stated to me “I don’t like bikes that can’t be ridden anywhere you might want to ride, and ride it at high speed.  In my eyes I built the best handling rigid possible, FXDX forks, 30 degree rake, flattrack rubber in the rear, Brembo brakes all around, gas charged shocks under the seat, and narrow bars with a race tachometer to keep it all under control.  All of that rolling on my prototype set of Chopperdaves/Church of Choppers motormag wheels”. And for those who don’t know, Dave operates a casting company, reason why both gas and oil tanks are cast by himself. Chopper Dave’s Secret Weapon is built on a BYC/chopperDave frame and is also featuring an S&S 6 speed tranny, a Harley-davidson FXDX cartridge 39 mm front end, brembo controls and brakes, a Fabricator Kevin fork brace and seat (upholstery by Mauricio), a polished aluminum front street cycle used as rear fender. I normally don’t care much for the “Bobber” look but in this case this bike is outstanding! The X-Wedge is an great touch! Great job Dave.

Best looking X-Wedge based bike to be built so far.

Who doesn’t love a cast(!?!) tank

thing of beauty for sure though there isn’t much Dave (or churchofchoppers for that matter) does that doesn’t rule.

Maybe an upcomming build-off between Cyril and Chopper Dave? That would be primetime TV!
