Official. US Bikers Can Now Order The Harley-Davidson XR-1200

Discretely, Harley-Davidson just confirmed that US bikers can now pre-order one of the 750 limited production XR-120. And if you do it now, it can be ready sitting under your Christmas tree in orange & black like on this picture. You can place your order during the next 3 weeks and no later than December 15. I dig this bike and I think the MSRP (from $10,799 to $11,179) is quite reasonable. A new series in black, and black & silver will be available later with delivery around March 2009. Bet with you that the 1st 750 in orange & black are going to be sought-after collectibles.  So, if you have the pocket change, rush to your Harley dealer. The bike is even not yet online in the US Harley-Davidson website

Trust that you’ll find it was worth the wait: we did on this side of the Atlantic. Will better suit the canyons than your interstates, but should be a blast in the city with its reduced gearing and recreate the ethos of the original Sportster for the 21st Century.

A proper modern Harley-Davidson – and read into that what you want – that shows the potential that still exists within the air-cooled long stroke motor. Early Buell engine performance combined with Harley styling (and weight): what’s not to like?

Congrates to Steve Stortz on his fine design for the Motor Company. Also well done to Harley for recognizing and compensating someone for their design.

I think it would be cool to paint one of these like an Evel Knevel bike… & maybe get those pipes up high, like the XR750.

Very cool bike, but is it another attempt by the motor company to get the young riders off the jap-bikes and on to H-D ? And if so why would they buy this a stock Honda or Yamaha or Suzuki will smoke this thing in a quarter mile or any other race, out last it, And do it at less cost. I think that H-D and the top mucka tee mucks have no clue how to get the younger crowd. Maybe they should try and build a classic H-D at an affordable price and stop trying to do what they have no idea how to do. Just build the nastalgic bike we all love at a low price that may work. Maybe they should get a better advertizing company also if they have ads showing young girls liking H-D better than the crouch rockets that may work too. Boys follow girls proven chemistry. I am sure they will sell some after all like my grandfather use to say (there is an ass for every seat) Just my opinions
