Great stuff – Not! Does anyone see this series as being good for biking in any way, shape, form or manner?

  2. 2 ROGUE Dec 22nd, 2008 at 8:54 am

Though I will admit to watching the show I do not think it is in the best interest of motorcycling.
Hey don’t get me wrong I am not suggesting that the things on the show do not go on in some segments of society but to Non-Riders who will be watching they will think that all who ride are like those on the show
I suspect that law enforcement is loving it and will allow them to further violate rights of those who wear a back patch. The back patch not necessarilly being a 1% club either. Many do not know the difference.
Take into consideration the recent ATF action against a west coast motorcycle club and their attempt to consficate their copywrited logo (backpatch)
I am sure you will see this continued and tried on other clubs and possibly other riding groups.
If a motorcycle rights organization is doing its job correctly then they are upsetting those who are attempting to take our rights away.
John and Jane Public will now be more certain we all Rape Ravage & Pillage.
Hey I Never Raped Any One LOL
Okay it is just a TV show so take it how evr you want.

    Doc Robinson,
Why is “good for biking” a criteria for any show?
The Harley-Davidson bailout wasn’t good for biking either.

I see this show as perpetuating myth, folklore and fantasy. Seems to fill the requirements of fiction on that level.

I agree with Mike, why does it matter if a show is “good for motorcycling”?

They had an idea for a show and people like it, good for them. You never know, it could help to spark a few more bike sales this or next season.

Look at the terrible movie Fast and the Furious. Yea, the movie sucked, but it almost single handedly threw sport compact cars into the spot light. Since then, an entire industry of accessories has emerged and companies were born as well as older companies made stronger.

Look at it this way. A guy I know recently got his motorcycle license. He quickly realized how many bikes are on the road and is like us now, he keps an extra eye out for bikes and other riders when he’s driving on more than two wheels. If a few people watch the show and realize the same thing, maybe a few bikers will be saved.

The best soap opera on the airwaves. The final show gave us a rendition of “John the Revelator” that we have never heard. I look forward to the soundtrack coming out soon.

It’s just a TV show people, relax!

  8. 8 Mike Greenwald Dec 22nd, 2008 at 12:11 pm

It doesn’t amaze me that you use the words it is just a tv show relax. Afterall, you have had it ingrained into your head that when a motorcyclist is killed or maimed that the LEO and judge also say ” It’s just a biker, relax.

  9. 9 Pitbull Dec 22nd, 2008 at 12:33 pm

It is just that, a TV show, it could be about a kid killing his parents or even a Fireman that steals from houses that burn down, it’s all make believe. The are many shows and movies depicting people and professionals as bad characters but the people watching them know it’s make believe!

It’s like the kid who listened to a song that talked about killing then he went and killed someone, is it the Musicians fault?

I’m a biker, rode to work today in the rain, you can relax Mike.

The worlds sees things in many different ways and people make their own judgments, a TV show is not going to sway them, thery already have their Ideas in their head.

I need not comment any more on this stupid subject about a friggin TV show on Cable and how people are trying to make it more than it is, Merry Christmas to you and everyone.

Are all Italians in the Mafia? Sopranos was condemened by many people for that stereotype.

SOA is a TV show that has bikes in it. Very little emphasis on the bikes in my opinion. More of a backdrop. The storyline is focused on the characters and the interactions not “we are bikers”.

I think American Chopper does more harm to the Biker image. Immature Idiots that wreck things on purpose and fight for no reason. Then you have Billy Lane with multiple DUI’s and at minimum a manslaughter charge, and Jesse James facing multiple lawsuits. That is more harmful if you are that sensitive than a drama / soap opera is.

I don’t think SOA is tarnishing the average motorcycle rider.

  11. 11 Mike Greenwald Dec 22nd, 2008 at 2:26 pm

    Half facts is half assed.

I understand that it is a TV show as do many. Many more watch drivel like that and imagine that if you can think it that it can happen. Point being this. Bad representation of motorcyclists and clubs. Gives John Q Public a sense of foreboding.

    Merry Christmas

Well I don’t think The Jerry Springer Show represents any real human factor what so ever. Hello!

  13. 13 just my opinion Dec 22nd, 2008 at 3:06 pm

If you are so worried about people thinking badly of motorcycles and the bike community. Than why support clubs at all. Do you really think seeing club members shotting each other in laughlin was good for our image? what about hearing of bikers killing each other like they did in sturgis two years ago? The fact is that there is and will always be some people that are bad apples whether it be bikers or priest and anyone with a brain knows that so calm down its just a show. Have a beer and enjoy it for what it is JUST ENTERTAINMENT.

Its another excellent reason not to watch TV. Sons of Stupidity. Its a trashy crime show, not a MC show. It’s a shame to link MC’s to trash. Maybe the could recast them in some really bad low riders that go up and down at stop lights, or burros that go up and down all the time, for the new season.

  15. 15 Pablo Dec 22nd, 2008 at 5:52 pm

Love the show,I think the writer based his fiction on some real events.
Jack I didn’t hear about Jesse James law suits ,what for?

  16. 16 Gerry Dec 22nd, 2008 at 7:02 pm

Can’t get the show on our channels but would love to see it. Is it out on DVD yet?

  17. 17 Brett Dec 22nd, 2008 at 9:25 pm

    People really need to relax.
Was the Sopranos good for Italians in New Jersey?
Was Deadwood good for Cowboys in South Dakota?
    Was Oz good for prisons?
Is Jon & Kate plus 8 good for fertility drugs?
Is American Chopper good for biking?
Are A&E & Biography channel documentaries on the Hells Angels, Mongols, Outlaws, Bandidos & Pagans good for biking?
    Are Harley’s good for biking?
    Are Hondas good for biking?
    Are choppers good for biking?
Are crotch rockets good for biking?
Are guys who spend every penney they have to buy a bike good for biking?
Are doctors & lawyers who bought bikes to join the fad & feel like a weekend bad ass good for biking?
Are 20 year olds doing stunts on the highway in rush hour traffic good for biking?
Is Ben Rothelisburger & Kellen Winslow Jr. crashing their bikes good for biking?

No matter what, no matter what kind of bike you ride, someone somewhere will have a problem with it. Even if everyone wore their helmets & rode scooters, someone would have an issue with it.

If someone who doesn’t ride sees Sons of Anarchy & then thinks everyone who rides a bike is in a gang & is a multiple felon, then they are just ignorant & the fact that anyone else worries about what is good for biking because a show like that is on has way to much time on their hands. If you don’t like the opinions many have of motorcycles, then quit riding.

  20. 20 Cooldaddy51 Dec 24th, 2008 at 1:44 pm

    Chill !
Just a show ! Pop a brew and enjoy it for what it is. Is it going to make you go out there and start a ruckus with an outlaw mexican gang? I don’t think so. As much lead as was flying in some of the shootouts you know you wouldn’t just walk away high fiveing it with your bros. Would like to see more bike stuff that gets people into riding though ,like the buildoffs etc. It was good for the industry
and created consumer awareness of the “good” kind.

my young step son had to be told it was not the way of the world. had to tell him its a tv show, so at least one group of tv watchers believe in this, as being true.

  22. 22 steveb Dec 28th, 2008 at 5:04 pm

ya mean the show isnt a documentary?
    ya mean it isnt “true”?

    say it aint so!

  23. 23 KAREND6656 Dec 31st, 2008 at 4:00 pm

Geez, Guys it is just a show! What about all these stupid cop shows, and hospital shows?? Come on it’s just a damn tv show. Sit back relax and enjoy, If you don’t like it, watch something else. God people come on!!!

  24. 24 Nicker Dec 31st, 2008 at 4:33 pm

Ya, its a piss poor representation of Bikers in general.
Just as Gun Smoke was a piss poor representation of the old west.

But then, it’s still a free country.
How you choose to spend [or waste] your time is your business.

I’m with rodent on this one…. BFD.

Chill. It is just a way to sit in front of the tube for an hour and get some entertainment in your soul. If you don’t like it, change the channel. If it ain’t this, it’s gonna be “Dancing With the Chimps”, so which would you prefer?

  26. 26 WTF Jan 7th, 2009 at 12:24 am

Personally, I really like the show. Well written, well acted and, well, just freakin’ good. If it gives some people the impression that all “bikers” (a person that rides a motorcylcle isn’t neccessarily a biker) are outlaws, then so be it. Maybe these latte drinking text messaging SUV pilots will actually get some fear in them and show a little respect for motorcyclists.
As far as the cops harassing people: They know the difference. If you’re not doing anything illegal, then you have nothing to worry about, right?

    ‘Nuff said. Later.

  27. 27 Nicker Jan 7th, 2009 at 3:59 am

    “… show a little respect for motorcyclists…”

    Isn’t “Respect” somthing one earns…???
Sounds like your talking about “fear.”

I ride and even i know its a TV show….. Get over it. Great show and im looking forward to season 2

  30. 30 Nancy Jan 13th, 2009 at 3:22 pm

Even though I have never owned a bike of my own. I have been riding since I was 3. Yes, I have had to tell people that in real life it is not like that. But when you look at all the reality tv shows, game shows you can never win, soap operas, and the rest of the crap that is out there, this does have an entertainment factor for everyone that is tired of the same old b.s. I rather like the show myself and plan on watching season 2 when it comes out.

  31. 31 Sherry Jan 14th, 2009 at 7:08 pm

My father was a “ride or die” biker for over 20 years, and alot of this show does relate to the way his club handled things, maybe not as extreme, but there were gang fights, drugs and guns, women, and a couple deaths. I can fully relate to this lifestyle because I was raised in something similar. And I think it is an excellent show, however the “bikers” of today are no more than a bunch of joy riders, it is good to see a show that attempts to depict the dark side that would send most of todays so called “bikers” screaming and pissing on themselves.

  32. 32 josh Jan 18th, 2009 at 2:49 am

every one needs to smoke a bowl and drink a 40.its just a tv show no matter what there’s allways gonna be people who hate on biker’s.i love riding and i love this show cant wait for the second season.

  33. 33 1550tc Jan 23rd, 2009 at 4:13 pm

Its good tv and that is what it is……….Jax is going to be a big star one huge for that matter Katie s is great on show and the rest of the line up sint too shabby either!

  34. 34 BigAl Jan 24th, 2009 at 6:14 am

Why can’t we all just be entertained ? I think the show strikes a decent balance between myth & reality. It was never meant to enlighten anyones sense of “public awareness”. If you don’t just kick back and enjoy it for what it is, then you missed the whole point. In that case, take Knuckleheads advice- Go watch Oprah !

  35. 35 Gustav Apr 30th, 2009 at 7:19 pm

Guys, it is a TV Show. Nothing else. Do not worry so much about bikers and the rest of the World. Let’s watch Desperate Housewives instead! 🙂 C’mon! Relax! Good show. Well acted and great written. Nice to watch and at least something to argue about (here). It is called entertainment. And it leads to socializing. Bad ass or good ass… Wears runners or boots… No difference!

I am waiting for the Season 2. Let’s see what happens next. Who is going to be a rat finally? I would make one of the gangs a double-secret-super-duper-agent… Let’s that guy who lost his wife (do not recall his name). Let him be an agent in the end!
