The Rebirth Of Daytona Bike Week Riverfront Park On Beach Street

Ten years ago, in it’s past glory days, the Daytona Beach rallies were prominently centered around Beach Street and its Riverfront Park. I have fond memory (the market was very strong) of all my Bike Week and Biketoberfest events in this location. All main builders (do you remember “Custom Builders Row”) and parts manufacturers were displaying side by side, and not spread all over Daytona & Ormond Beach, like now.  It was a lot of fun to be all together, working, helping each other but also having good times, hoping from tent to tent, exchanging jokes, sharing a fast meal and planning our Daytona nights… Then, it all went away because of the city unfriendliness approach with our gathering and the decision of Bruce Rossmeyer to open Destination Harley in Ormond Beach. But now I learn that Bruce has engaged one of his companies, Biker Threads, to enter into an agreement with the City of Daytona Beach in order to bring back the activities that made motorcycling events fun on Beach Street. So, the Beach Street’s Riverfront Park is back to become again one of the main focuses during the next Bike Week (with Ormond Beach & International Speedway) with a Vendor Village, Custom Bike Builders and OEM Displays, Live Entertainment, Beer Gardens, Stunt Shows, Parts Installation Areas, food court, etc.  Vendor information. Cyril, we did have some great times on Beach Street no doubt about it. In fact it hasn’t been the same since we left Beach Street and went to the speedway. I believe I may give Kennie a call and see what happenings are planned ….. maybe it is time for a move back to Beach Street!

    Over & Out,

    Jeff

Bruce was reinventing himself with the move away from Daytona Beach, and shunning the city with his departure – now he wants to come back?

how about FUCK FLORIDA and every show they hold! I’m not supporting any state that doesnt want motorcycles there, and I’m not sure why any riders or vendors would either.

I thought Tom Cellie Productions was behind the Riverfront Return. I remember talking with him last year, about returning to riverfront, but I had acquired another location for Viper Motorcycles after the fact. I believe he is a local businessman in Daytona behind this plan. Did he partner with Bruce R? Any more info available out there? It really was a great location for bikers to park and walk.

This is SO transparent… the Fat Man has property, or financial interest downtown. I urge all my riding brothers & sisters to STAY AWAY FROM DAYTONA until Rossmeyer has a massive stroke and fades away. He is responsible for most of the political issues at the rally due to his unbridaled greed. He concern is his wallet & private jets, not the rider that just wants to be a part of the brotherhood.

F__k Daytona & the Fat Man

Does anyone really have the true facts of what is happening in the Beach St. area? I was told that the city plans on closing the one bridge completely and had plans on changing the whole area around. This was why Rossmeyer was moving out of town. Again just what I was told, don’t have any hard facts.
Personaly I loved the beach street area for vending and would love to see it back stong again ( at a reasonable price)
One more comment. I really get tired of hearing people boo hoo about areas not wanting bikers. Hey it makes me want to go that much more just to piss them off.

I went to my first Bike Week in 1999. My dad flew me in and picked me up from the airport. We then headed straight to Beach Street. I remember it clearly. Our truck was on the water side and Cyril and Jesse were over on the Harley side of the street. I met Cyril way back then. Its hard to believe I was 11 years old.

Now Daytona, and most other shows for that case, have changed so much and spread out and become way more greedy
