Obama Inaugural Parade Harley-Davidson Motorcycles.

January 20 is inauguration day for President-Elect Barack Obama. The week of festivities will include the Presidential Swearing-in Ceremony, Inaugural Address and of course the Inaugural Parade. The Frederick, MD Harley-Davidson dealership competed with others across the nation to win the honor to provide the 12 Harleys leading this inaugural parade through the streets of Washington, D.C. as the world watches. The factory bikes, sidecars, decals, lights arrived in Frederick in October. Each motorcycle then takes about 40 hours of work and special preparation. Multiply that by 12 motorcycles, and 480 hours of labor goes into the.price tag.  The cost of the entire contract was just under $300,000.  It came out to about $26,000 or $27,000 a vehicle. After the festivities Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police will use these “Presidential Harleys” daily to patrol the city.

I may get rid of my two Harleys and go foreign . This sucks.

I agree with Cade..Don’t they make motorcycles in Africa?

Article 2, Section 1, of the Constitution of the United States, states, “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President…”

President-elect Obama’s paternal grandmother was present at Obama’s birth in Mombasa, in what is now Kenya.

I voted for the American citizen that actually showed his face at a huge motorcycle bike week.

  6. 6 Paul Garnier Jan 6th, 2009 at 11:33 am

Poor Gunrunner. Obama’s parental grandmother must have called you to make you this confidence. Or you must continue to read the stupid redneck republican propaganda. Fyi, all the lawsuits up to the supreme court failed to challenge Obama’s citizenship. You can’t accept that your has been/senile candidate (the one who stated last november that the economy was sound!!!) lost the election. The republican party doesn’t exist anymore, by it’s own fault. Just acknowledge that you belong to the camp of losers, that you are prejudiced and move on.

As H-D wraps up their 2008 celebration of 100 years of building police motorcycles, this is quite nice to see. Let’s look at the positive side, people, and not get distracted by politics. Bikers are being shown in a high profile situation. This is a good thing.

Right on Marilyn. My only bone of contention would be that I’d like to see a Kiwi Indian in the mix but at least motorcycles are being portrayed in a positive fashion. It’s all good.

I always like movies and pictures of HD dressers leading parades or running security for Presidents or even South American dictators.
It was not that long ago some of those countries were still using Hydra Glides.
What I do not remember is the use of side cars.
Are the cops too lazy to put there feet down now, or do they need a 3rd wheel to hold up their bag of donuts.
I think it is cool, but can someone tell me why side cars??

  10. 10 Cade Jan 6th, 2009 at 3:08 pm

Mike Kiwi Tomas, Kiwi Indian MotorCycles …….I dam sure wont ever own any of your Indians no matter how cheap they may sell.

“… you belong to the camp of losers…”

Ya, we did loose. No denying that.

But it was because of a lack of conservative values.
    (not to mention ACORN)

    “… republican propaganda …”

However, BO’s birth is an issues that needs an answer,
Since it wouldn’t take much …..
    – a real birth certificate
(Hawaiian “certificate” can be issues on hearsay, it’s no the same as a “Live birth certificate.”)
    – passport documentation
    – etc.

So, why not get stuff like that out instead of all this Clintonesqu obfuscation…..???

Passing as a citizen is easy without an investigation, i did it for more than 15 years, with my own, valid SSI number.

WOW the ignorance that shows up on this blog does surprise me. Here we have bikers talking shit about our president because he is black and these are the same people that have been whining that the folks in myrtle beach don’t want us dirty bikers in there town. And whining that we are treated differant because we are bikers and people just don’t understand us. We don’t like to be discriminated against but have no problem doing it to others is that it? Also made me laugh when at the big HarleyDavidson hundred aniversary you same dumb mother fuckers boo’d Elton John off the stage because he is gay but then you go to the local rally’s and local bars and join in a sing YMCA which is probable the gayest song ever made but maybe you think you are the biker in the group. Is that the differance? Just when I think I have seen the stupidest people, some of you idiots surprise me by doing something even dumber. Put those leather halloween suits back on and go play the bad ass biker. Keep pretending to be the bad ass biker and Don’t try to pretend that you have the guts to be a real man and stand up to your loser friends and say you are not a redneck that hates what you don’t understand. Real Americans are white, black, asian, indian, mexican and a mix of all the above if you don’t like it maybe you should go back to where your relatives came from because we are all from somewhere else you ignorant jack asses.

Then a document known as a “Certification of Live Birth” made its way onto Obama’s website.

There is just one problem: the Hawaii “Certification of Live Birth” is totally inadequate for the purpose of proving that an individual was actually born in the State of Hawaii. The “Certification of Live Birth” is nothing more than a computer generated printout. It is a totally different document than the “CERTIFICATE [not Certification] of Live Birth.” And it is not a valid birth certificate.

First, Hawaii allows a child to be furnished a “Certification of Live Birth” even if the child was NOT born in Hawaii. Specifically, the Statute reads:

“[§338-17.8] Certificates for children born out of State. (a) Upon application of an adult or the legal parents of a minor child, the director of health shall issue a birth certificate for such adult or minor, provided that proof has been submitted to the director of health that the legal parents of such individual while living without the Territory or State of Hawaii had declared the Territory or State of Hawaii as their legal residence for at least one year immediately preceding the birth or adoption of such child.”

Secondly, Hawaii government agencies DO NOT necessarily accept the “Certification of Live Birth” as proof that an individual was born in the state of Hawaii.

Hey ….just my opinion ……opinions are same as assholes and we all have one….I guarantee YOU opinion…my neck is red and will be that way untill the last breath. Screw you and the hole you crawled out of.

  15. 15 Jason Jan 6th, 2009 at 8:30 pm

Gunrunner,,how do you explain that all legal actions to challenge Obama citizenship were declared non receivable? I tell you why. Because anyone born from at least one parent who is a US citizen is de-facto a US citizen, even if the child is born in Katmandu. Check with ICE (Immigration). You just copied and pasted ignorant lines from anti Obama websites. The majority of Americans is more intelligent than you.

Our country has a new president on the way in, and the parade will be led by a dozen Harley-Davidsons. I think that’s pretty neat. Where else would that happen?

As for most of the people who chose to show their ignorance. I agree with the comments that were made above by “just my opinion”. Some of you really asked for it.

You guys act like you have no idea how many people just don’t respect you, and have nothing good to say about you, or your obnoxious pipes waking them up, or collection of Easy Riders that so blatantly patronizes you, or your David Mann posters, your tired Bob Seger cassettes, or your Limited Edition Willie G pillowcases.

My idea of a role model is not a closed-minded, angry, miserable, fat alcoholic riding a gaudy, poor-handling parade float.

  18. 18 Boss Hawg Jan 6th, 2009 at 11:11 pm

Objective Observer and Just My Opinion…I second the motion. Like it or not President-Elect Obama is our man. Color, racism and sexual preferences need not come into play here.

Obama has inherited the worse financial mess/crisis this great country has seen since the Great Depression. Wall Street and the financial institutions have all but screwed us and our childrens children. Just look at the 600 so called “Banking” executives that took, if you averaged, $1.5 Billion or $2.5 Million in additional executive compensation from the receivables of the bail-out funds? It is estimated that present course will put our grand-children in debt to the tax man at a tune of $185K by 2075!

Give Obama a chance! He has aligned himself well and with his subordinates support, we will prevail and overcome the financial crisis we are in by year’s end and begin turning the economy to the positive.

I welcome Cyril’s artcile and look forward to the Inaugural Parade with 50 or so Harley-Davidson’s roaring up Pennsylvania Ave. with the Power V Formation up fronnt and United States Flags flying proudly.

Ride On America with God’s Speed.

    Well OK,

“…ignorance that shows up on this blog…”

    It may well be ignorant….
However, that doesn’t change some facts.

Article II – Section I of the Constitution clearly limits those who can serve as Commander-in-Chief:

“…No person except a natural born citizens… shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and bean fourteen Years a Resident within the United States…..”

So the issue is over “natural born,” not race.
Hence the need to determine exactly where he was born and a definitive (Supreme Court) ruling as to the original intent of “natural born.”

Obama’s Kenyan relatives state that they attended his birth in Kenya
Later, Obama was indeed a legally documented citizen of Indonesia, traveling under his Indonesian passport as recent as in his early twenties.

The eligibility issue is simply about BO, It’s about our documented requirements for the process of government and the orderly transfer of power.

If Article II – Section I of the constitution is meaningless, then the entire constitution is meaningless. Are the people are so focused on “change” willing to look the other way just to seat their agent of change, realize this?

Why isn’t anyone in the press asking such question? Why has Obama spent a million dollars in legal fees when he could have spent $10.00 for a certified copy of his birth records?

Guess it’s just us “ignorant politically-incorrect closed-minded, angry, miserable, fat alcoholics” respectfully submit that all you “enlightened scholars” out there should know that your characterization of …”…Real Americans [as] white, black, asian, indian, mexican and a mix of all the above…” should more accurately be labeled as “Caucasian, Negro, Asian, Hispanic, Mulatto….. etc.”

But then, that’s just one “ignorant bloger’s” perspective on Factual Reality.

  21. 21 Cyril Huze Jan 7th, 2009 at 9:41 am

My original post was not political. But reading your comments about who is a US citizen, and who is not is a subject that I know very well since I am an immigrant, who has been a legal alien in the US since day one (US working visa, then permanent resident, then US naturalized citizen)..

1- Anyone, born in the US or US territory or US military base anywhere in the world is a US born citizen (even if his 2 parents are not US citizens), For example, many US soldiars are not US citizens, just permanent residents (Green Card) and have a child born on a US military base.

2- Anyone born anywhere in the world from at least one parent who is US citizen is a legally born US citizen. This child is considered dual citizen US & nationality of the other parent. As a dual citizen he is authorized to carry 2 passports and by international law, no government can ask him to give up one of his 2 citizenships. I have a son born from a US citizen mother at a time when I was no yet naturalized US citizen. He is a dual citizen and has legally 2 passports (US & European passports).

3- Any child born in another country becomes US citizen as soon as his legal parent is naturalized American if the child lives with his legal parent. I have another son born in France, French citizen. He became US citizen (by automatic naturalization) as soon as I was naturalized American because he was living with me. He is not a dual citizen like my other son. Why? Because when naturalized American, you give up all your former other citizenships. A US citizen cannot have 2 passports except in the case of dual citizenship when 2 parents have 2 different nationality. You don’t need to be a US citizen to live legally in the US. You can have a working visa (limited in time), a Green Card (permanent resident authorized to live & work in the US). So, a US citizen marrying a foreigner will “give” a Green Card to his (her) spouse. The spouse keeping his (her) foreign citizenship, when they have a child, born in the US or anywhere in the world this child will be a dual citizen (US & citizenship of other parent).

I don’t know where Obama is born. But the fact that his mother was US citizen gives him automatically the US citizenship when he is born. Even if he was born in Kenya, he is “a natural born citizen”. It explains why he had also a Kenyan passport. It’s legal. A “natural born citizen” has nothing to do with the geography of where you were born. It has to do with your birth constitutional right to be declared US citizen. Even if Obama would land today in the US, never had/requested a US passport, he still would be admitted as a US citizen and would automatically get a US passport at any time he wants.

Only a naturalized citizen (me, Henry Kissinger, Arnold Schwarzenegger for example) is prevented from being US President. But he can be any elected politician including Vice President. Since an individual can be a “natural born” citizen without being born in the US, this person can be President.

Except if you challenge the US citizenship of Obama’s mother, wherever he is born, you cannot challenge in court his US “natural born” citizenship. He also had the right to carry 2 passports. All legal actions against Obama have failed and my point of view is that these actions were not made to be won in court but to push the “undecided” on one side during the presidential campaign. But I don’t talk politics in my Blog…

  22. 22 Mike Greenwald Jan 7th, 2009 at 11:03 am

Politicians and presidents have a record of putting their escort motorcyclists in harms way. This is evidenced during the George W. Bush term as president and during the H.R.Clinton campaign. I doubt that sidecar rigs will be used effectively in Washington DC. The return on investment will relegate them to expensive parking regulation vehicles, parade vehicles and the like.

  23. 23 Nicker Jan 8th, 2009 at 2:42 am

The Constitution only lays out the framework reacquiring (among other things)that a President be a “born citizen.”

The requirements are laid out in:

USC 1401. Nationals and citizens of United States at birth
The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:
    (d) a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is a citizen of the United States who has been physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for a continuous period of one year prior to the birth of such person, and the other of whom is a national, but not a citizen of the United States;

The above seems to be the clause that fits BO’s case, since the Hawaiian document doesn’t cut it as a real “live birth” certificate.

As always, the devil is in the details. If in fact he wasn’t born in Hawaii there may well be a problem.
According to the above, BO’s eligibility hinges on his Father’s eligibility as “….a national…” (not a foreign student). Perhaps that’s why so much money was spent trying to establish BO’s eligibility through Hawaii.

You made your children eligible by your status as a National through your permanent resident visa and your Wife’s citizenship.

I too had a permanent visa/green-card all along.
Where things went wrong for me was the INS black hole of paperwork. My naturalization papers never actually went through the proper procedures in 1958, so i never actually became a citizen. The screw up went unnoticed till 1972 when a security clearance investigation turned up my non-citizen status.

Had that investigation not taken place i would still be mistakenly (illegally) acted as a citizen (voting etc). I thought i was a citizen and so did the Draft Board, the County Registrar, the SSI, and the Military etc. etc.

My saving grace was my US military service. All that time i was “Legally Liable” for deportation by the INS. In 1973 the INS accepted my Honorable Discharge document and gave me my naturalization papers.

Having said all that, i hope you have been diligent in getting your foreign born children’s naturalization papers in your hand. And NEVER let those papers (yours or theirs) out of your custody.

Many years ago some idiot county clerk suggested that i should actually send mine to San Francisco in the US Mail, in order to expedite a passport transaction.
“Natural born” Americans are clueless about how important those papers really are….. 🙂

My point is simply that since people are increasingly sloppy about the processes that expedite our government’s operation, it’s entirely possible that BO simply doesn’t meet the criterion for being President (regardless of his race or political position). And that the criterion he is supposed to meet isn’t as simple as his mother being a citizen.

The more we Americans allow or laws and processes to degrade the more tenuous is our hold on Freedom. There are no shortcuts. This is not trivial, it’s important stuff!!!

Oh, and BTW, make sure your child that is holding dual citizenship doesn’t vote in his other country. As i understand it there is legislation that proposes to make such an act a Federal a crime.

  24. 24 Cyril Huze Jan 8th, 2009 at 7:53 am

Nicker. No worry. For the part of my family not born in the US, our application papers for citizenship were never lost. We all got a naturalization ceremony with speech, music, pledge of allegiance to the flag, naturalization papers handed to us by an Immigration Officer. Got US passports immediately, already renewed several times. We vote only in our new country, the US.

  25. 25 harry Jan 8th, 2009 at 6:59 pm

Should have had the H-D’s customized by Mr. Huze, Mr. Nicklus, Mr. Fairless or by any of the great custom bike builders that frequent this blog, that would make it a bad-ass inaugration. Well, at least the bikes would have been bad-ass…

  26. 26 Crash Jan 8th, 2009 at 7:46 pm

Hey Harry. What about some of the hard core custom builers who don’t frequent this blog because they are busy building bikes and going about their own business . They also don’t give a shit about the Inaugural crap that is dog and pony show in its self.

  27. 27 harry Jan 9th, 2009 at 9:17 am

To Crash: It was just a comment that was meant to be more devil-may care, between the heated conversations on this blog in regards to politics recently and the Billy Lane situation, guess it was a lousy pass at humor to just get someone to crack up and forget the serious side of things for awhile. Things are way too tense and personal nowadays. Are there a lot of bike builders out there that don’t frequent this blog that would be considered exceptional; sure, and I am sure between the both of us we could probably name about a dozen of them (at least). And I am sure that the guys I mentioned in my last post stay busy as well building bikes and staying employed regardless of the economic climate that we are in now. Most folks don’t care about the inaugaration, or politics in general for that matter and that is their choice, sometimes it gets to be too much for me. There is always a time and a place to be serious and a time to lighten up and enjoy life. As I heard someone older and wiser than me say once: Life sucks but not for me. We can make decisions when we get up in the morning and decide how things will be. Maybe if we all lived like that perhaps there wouldn’t be so much animosity in this world. Being pissed off all of the time sucks, lived like that before and can’t say that I enjoyed it after looking back on it now. Just my opinion…

Harley’s leading the parade???? Hell if he was a real man HE should bring out the nukes to lead the parade just like in Russia or China or North Korea…!!!!

Do the bikes all have twenty foes on them?

    Over & Out,

  31. 31 Brad Schwertzer Jan 12th, 2009 at 5:54 pm

David, you are uneducated. None of these countries parade with nukes in front. No country as a matter of fact. Your comment is quite dumb. You want me to explain why?

  32. 32 David Jan 15th, 2009 at 12:25 am

Brad, Just to let you know I am not uneducated. Although I do have a degree from a small West Texas University (Texas Tech). I was just being very facetious about those countries and their military parades.

  33. 33 John Jan 21st, 2009 at 7:46 pm

what a lousy scoot sight. you guys really need to ride more. it sounds like a bar surrounded by bikes looks to me on a glorious day when i’m riding, stupid. wtf?
