A Decade In The Making. Open Road Radio Turns 12.

If the Internet consisted of real brick and mortar buildings there would be a construction boom going on right now like the world has never seen. The Internet is not in a recession or on the road to a depression, rather it is experiencing an economic and social explosion of activity. Celebrating 12 years cruising the airwaves Open Road Radio invited me to talk about this phenomenon and the reasons why my Blog was so successful. Joined me on the air was Keith Ball, Christen Clayton and Amanda Richardson. You can listen to this discussion by going to “Motorcycles Most Popular Websites”. (as you will find out I have an accent for radio…). You can tune into Open Road Radio each week from 11a-12p on 9 FM: 92.5, 92.7 & 99.9 or streamed live at Open Road Radio.

Gina and her crew do a real good job and are a definate asset to motorcycling.
I had the pleasure of finally actually meeting her in Milwaukee during Harleys 105th Anniversary while cover the women motorcyclist assembling a bike for charity. We have since stayed in touch and I have been on the show a few times.
I recommend her show to all.

Congrats to you, your crew and Open Road Radio! Talk about having cred…you are one of the only people I know (male or female) who deadheads Chicago to Sturgis on 2 wheels (on a hardtail no less!).

Gina Woods and ORR Crew – Happy 12 Big Ones — You Are the BEST! It seems like just yesterday ORR hit the airwaves. A Motorcycle (Radio) Talk Show was not only long overdue — but the fact that a Female Motorcyclist started it makes it even more Awesome! You’ve accomplished a lot of Firsts Gina – including your All-Ladies Bike Builds – and I’m sure you have many more surprises for us down the road. I love listening to ORR and I also love occasionally co-hosting the show! It’s a Blast … the time flies by and no matter what the topic it’s always informative, funny, interesting and I often walk away (ride away – in better weather) learning something new! I even enjoy calling in from my “library stops” when I’m on the road! Thanks for your dedication and hard work in spreading the joy of riding via radio airwaves. Jo Giovannoni, ORR Groupie and 1996 Motorcycle Hall of Fame Inductee

    Hey Gina,

Cracking a beer open to you and the crew now. 12 years. Wow.

It’s people like Gina, the crew and the support of those that listen every week that help make the bike community tighter and tighter every day. There are ‘ those that pose ‘ and then there’s the folks at Open Road Radio.

Keep up the great work and let me know if there is anything I can help out with sometime. It’d be my pleasure.

    Ken

Gina congratulations on the decade sister. Met you a long time ago- you might not remember as I am sure you met so many, You did a good thing Gina – I know you questioned it and had many trials and tribulations over keeping the pace..being a one manned band isn’t always the easiest, but you have proved thru time how durable you really are and that you and you alone, not this wonderfully funny Dave nor Dozer as they just sit beside you, but that you through the months of knocking on doors for advertising dollars has come full circle.

I know this through friends we share that its been a tough road for you and you really have prevailled. Without blowing to much wind up your skirt – you have one on no?…I just want to say you started something you believed in and never turned back..Rock on sister..you are the true purveyor of MOTORCYCLE TALK RADIO. Be loud & be proud you are a true pioneer..do I smell a Motorcycle Hall of Fame nomination?

  24. 24 Oddo Jan 23rd, 2009 at 1:08 pm
