On My Way To The V-Twin Expo

cincinnatiI hate cold and leaving my South Florida diggs in winter. I am right now the guy at the Fort-Lauderdale airport wearing the largest number of clothing layers ready to fight cold in Cincinnati when I arrive this afternoon. Fortunately my hotel will be a few feet away from the entrance of the Duke Energy center where the who’s who of the motorcycle industry is going to exhibit its new wares during the 9th edition of the V-Twin Expo. What to expect? Of course, the best of the industry will be there, but unfortunately, you guessed it, a few will have chosen not to do the pilmgrimage, saving money until better times. As usual, except if I turn into an ice cube or I am victim of a massive internet connection breakdown (had a full day like that last year at the Hilton!), I will report daily on what I see, like, dislike… and who I meet. Talk to you later from the  V-Twin Expo.

    Calling for 50’s this weekend.

If V-Twin has a set of those new 3.5 tanks on display, will you snap a pic and post it?
If they don’t, try getting a cleavage peep-shot of a pretty girl(s). That’ll do until springtime.

Given these economic times I’m sure a large number of us have decided not to make the trip this year. Personally I’ll be pounding metal this weekend building bikes.

Love to go but have to stay here and make the custom parts people have ordered.

Your not riding up there? Shame, shame (just kidding). Well I hope to be at home instead of Afghanistan next year and maybe I can get an invite so I can cover it for my site.

Cyril, If they have those tanks on display, measure from the inside edge (at the end of the T-bar cutout, where it makes the transition for a concave relief [for the top rail] of the frame). That distance from the inside to the outside curve of the tank (looking down), should be 2-1/2″. If they made a true replica, it will be.
A 6″ (General®) pocket ruler is a good tool. See if JW’s around. He’s the only one with an 18-wheeler license, and they can’t move exhibits around without him. He might have some scoop! We need a spring-build boost.
And thanks for making the trip. And the builder-photo-journalistics that we can all relate to. Tear it up.

Too busy – taking a pass from this years show & tell to catch up on a ton of work sitting on the bench! I’d rather be making the cake than spending it….

    have fun y’all

Bobfather said it right, because of the economy I am sure a lot of people are sitting this one out. So are people coming on here saying, sorry too busy this year? Come on give it a rest, if you were there the last couple of years and were not “too busy” then how can you be too busy this year?

    Personally – i weigh it this way> : is attending a “need ” or a “want”.

Do I want to go? Sure, its always fun seeing friends and the latest wares, and seeing Ron Trock insures a lively conversation or two …. Used to be fun watching the game at the bar….

Do I need to go? No, my customer base does not attend, as I work mostly for end-use consumers…. will not attending hurt my business? I dont think so.

I can well afford to manage my needs, but do not feel it is appropriate to indulge my wants this year due to the fragile nature of the economy and the marketplace. Having a bench full of work makes the decision even easier.

Why don’t the V-Twin move to a more friendly climate? There is no need to go to Cinci in the winter and in fact why go to Cinci at all? Move it to Lost Wages or Orlando

Well Cinci is way more of a centralized location than the two you mentioned
