This one from Softbrake is a stand alone eliminating the top license plate glass and bracket. It’s a direct bolt-on to replace the Harley-Davidson factory taillight up to 2010 models but it keeps the stock original lighting components.     Well it couild be considered DOT approved since it reuses the factory lense,and internal lighting element, then you relocate your lic. plate to the bottom and use a lighted plate frame. This housing eliminates the plate light lense and the lic. plate braket on all Softail Deluxe models.
