Harley-Davidson Incentive. $5,000 To The Dealer For Each Buell Sold

buellxb12rLast Monday, 3 days after Harley-Davidson decided to drop Buell I was informed that my local Harley-Davidson dealers in South Florida were already re-writing sticker prices of every Buell in stock to 50% of the original MSRP. Then, Milwaukee faxed to all dealers to announce an incentive to help move all Buell models out of the door as fast as possible. The dealer money incentive was supposed to be kept top secret. Not for a long time… Harley-davidson informed every dealer that they were giving them $5000 for each Buell leaving the show floor, whatever the model! So, it means that a dealer selling a brand new 2009 1125 CR could sell the bike previously listing at $9999.00 for $4,999.00 without losing any money.

As soon asthe price at which you could steal a 09 Buell was lmown (as low as $3500.00 in some dealerships), a bargain hunters bidding war began making the selling price of Buells going back up & up, but the dealer still pocketing $5000 for each sale. Bargains? Maybe a few left depending of where you shop. But the best deals may be gone in your area. In all negotiations there is a winner and a loser. And I hope you win at your dealership. For me, it’s quite sad to see the spectacle of Harley-Davidson taking such desperate measures to sell part of their business. And I begin to thinck that Harley-Davidson may lose even more when selling MV Agusta. I don’t see who is going to offer more than what Harley paid about 1 year ago to acquire the Italian manufacturer. Anyway, if you buy a Buell at deep discount, try to get the Lightning XB125 strretfighter or the XB12R as featured above. They are for me the best values and warranty remains & parts will sill be available . But, still this situation is very sad.

Sounds like another Mother Company publicity trick to get you in the door to buy a T – Shirt.

I kind of like the cube idea and desinger tables. In red would be my choice

Too bad a beautiful air cooled motor has to be hidden under all that “stuff.”

Kinda shows what the true value was.

Sounds like an opportunity to get a strong engine and a title for building a custom bike on the cheap… I’ll bet a lot of customs seen next year at events will feature Buell donor parts.

The CEO ” Hatchet Man ” Is doing what he was put in place to do.
Which model—— Which facility—– Which dealer is next.???
Time to put on the life jackets

Like most grapevine information you hear this too is half truths. A dealer must agree to numerous legal and long term commitments to receive consideration, thus not all dealers will receive anything. Incentives are a function of model and model year and some receive no help.

well I just negotiated a $5K equivalent discount on a Buell here in the UK today – so thank you Cyril.

Re: to Manhattan Chopper. No more the true value then a repo-ed house that a bank is dumping at a sheriff sale.

  15. 15 J Oct 26th, 2009 at 9:05 am

Ouch, that won’t just totally destroy secondary Buell prices….. NOT.

Guess they need the floorspace to put up the new line of fringed Willie G designer gloves and boots…

  16. 16 FREDP Oct 26th, 2009 at 9:08 am

Dustin, it’s a deal if YOU think it’s a deal. Don’t expect to make money on it down the road. If it’s for personal use, enjoy it. Heck it’s 5500 dollars off a new bike!!!!

  17. 17 fuji Oct 26th, 2009 at 10:48 am

Now the Buell is a world class, Eric —– In price.

    Still in profits….

  22. 22 BD Oct 27th, 2009 at 1:25 pm

I bought a new leftover ’08 1125R a few days ago. Black but no fairing lowers. $5400 plus all the add on b.s., it cost me $6400 out the door. What a great bike at that price!

The ’08’s have a little plaque on the upper triple clamp w/ Erik Buell’s ‘signature’ and it says ’25th anniversary signature model’. That’s the kind of stuff that H-D collectors love.

I recall 1977, when H-D introduced the XLCR ‘cafe racer’. I rode one. What a slow, poor handling pig, a real piece of junk – little more than a restyled Sportster. But what is a nice one worth today?

The Buell 1125R will always be the best sport bike that Harley has ever offered. It was a great deal at MSRP and it was a steal at what I paid. ‘Nuff said.

  23. 23 BD Oct 27th, 2009 at 1:50 pm

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. Mine was the last 1125R that this dealer had.

It had been sitting in their upstairs warehouse with a dead battery and I insisted that they put in a new battery and change all the fluids before I’d take it. They agreed and told me to come back the next day after noon to pick it up.

When I arrived the next day, it was sitting on the showroom floor ready to go and there were three other guys w/ cash in hand who wanted to buy it. But it was already spoken for…

I wonder if they have any of the Buell Blats left. They were only $4999. Just think 1550tC, You might go to one of the Harley Buell Dealers and they mignt even Pay you to Own a Buell Blast. Just thinking of a way you can go Riding and Owning a Bike , Just your Kind of Deal !!!!!!!!!11

  25. 25 1550tc Oct 28th, 2009 at 10:15 pm

Bigalyts your funny and on a roll………………….speaking of the blasts do you recall when some dealers were giving them away if you bought a V ROD ??

isnt that 1125 motor the same as u get an in aprillia?

I am really glad that I keep current with the latest and greatest in the motorcycle industry by checking out Cyril’s blog. Not only does it help me with my job, after market harley parts, but it really paid off big time this week. My old man and I have been searching for a used big twin in my price range, but everything out there has been rode hard and put up wet, plus I know the reputation of most of the mechanics around here, professional and shadetree, and I am not willing to risk my saftey that I might be riding one with their greasy mits all over it. We went out and bought a brand new 09 lightning- her name is RUBY- she is the coolest bike I have ever owned. Thanks for the heads up on the kick ass deals Cyril!!

It’s true! Not a scam at all. I live in Racine, WI (just outside of Milwaukee…Harley-Davidson founding grounds). Only one dealer in the area applied this incentive because all the others had too many models on their floors. The incentive only applies when the dealer sells new bikes from the manufacturer..not bikes they already have purchased that are sitting on show room floors. I just ordered a red 2009 1125R three weeks ago. It just got delivered last week. I paid $5k for it (..over half the price!!!), and my salesperson acknowledged the incentive. I never would have been able to afford this bike otherwise, and I am so happy!!!! When I ordered, only 450 bikes were left of the 1125R model, so hurry! My dealer was not offering deals on orders of any other model, but they did slash the price of a Ulysses by about $3k.
