Harley-Davidson Declares March 2010 Garage Party Time For Women Riders

harleywomanriderIn 1990, women represented just 3% of riders, but according to recent data from the Motorcycle Industry Council, women riders now represent 12% of new motorcycle purchasers and 23% of all motorcyclists (Among the 12% of women purchasers I am convinced, and I know of several cases, that some are made by women for a man with a bad credit report). In March 2010 Harley dealerships across the US will host Garage Party events to provide a fun, social environment for women to learn about the sport of motorcycling, as well as meet other women who are interested in riding.

These events are free for any woman who is looking to take the next step to get behind the handlebars. Leslie Prevish, women’s outreach manager for Harley-Davidson Motor Company states that ” millions of women are interested in motorcycling, but don’t know where to start, and Harley is looking forward to encourage thousands of new women to get a taste of riding and learn how it can change their lives, like it has for more than a million women in the last few decades”. The Garage Party event includes 1 Motorcycle Orientation to learn the basic differences between Harley-Davidson motorcycle families. 2 MotorClothes® Merchandise to discover the important attributes needed in motorcycle gear. 3 Customization to learn how to customize a motorcycle to reflect a rider’s personal style using Fit Shop that many dealers have. 4 Self-Service to find out how just about anyone can handle the weight of a motorcycle, including an interactive experience on picking up a motorcycle. Women can visit Garage Parties

Girl riders rock! The bike scene has become way more interesting since women entered the scene in significant numbers. Plus we guys can enjoy the corners more riding solo! So, go for it girls, go for it!
